Flyover for Saturday's Game
Hey y'all - as one of MGoBlog's MGoPilots (USAF) I thought I'd share this cool story about Saturday's game
The flyover will be conducted with two AT-38's from the 435th Fighter Training Squadron at Randolph AFB in Texas. These supersonic jet trainers are used by student pilots to gain the skills necessary to fly fighter or bomber type aircraft after graduating pilot training. The two pilots flying them are instructor pilots and 1996 UM college of engineering grads: Lt Col Jason "Ugly" Earley and Lt Col Michael "Vito" Ferrario. I haven't met them personally, but if I know fighter pilots, they'll put on a fun show! Note the Block M they painted on the side of one of the birds; not an easy feat to convince maintenance to do.

I'll check back and answer any questions y'all have about the jets or anything else related if you want
Mod edit: Don't think the comments are salvageable at this point. Not at all a reflection on AAK15's very solid and informative OP. JGB.

I think that most football fans would rather have them in the stadium as opposed to doing a flyover, at least they do at FSU....

OK, a compromise? I will man-up about the flyovers, as long as we strap some cartoon-big boobs to the bottom of the jets. Deal?

9/11 marked the end of allowing advertising planes over the stadium.

Football was good and the humming of the little planes circling Michigan Stadium was zen. Ahhhhhh......

That is the most brilliant thing I have read all day. Lets make it happen people.
Boobs over the Big House 2015! The tickets will sell themselves. You following along DB? That is branding.

Nice boobs though... not those saggy things which look like a water balloon in a tube sock.

Because flybys are fun to watch and add something to an event. I get they're not to everyone's taste, but most people like them.

They occur with the national anthem to add a sense of grandiosity. Both are national symbols, albeit war-related.
I love how Lloyd Carr said his favorite moment of every game was when the national anthem was played.
September 9th, 2015 at 6:06 PM ^
What about flags?
All three are nationalist displays. If you think one is gross then so too are the others.
September 9th, 2015 at 6:12 PM ^
is by FAR the grossest display. I can't believe the MMB performs it every week. The word "bombs" is written right in it. how disgusting. /s
September 9th, 2015 at 6:21 PM ^
in which it was written? You come off like you don't.

to successfully wage a war. The only saving grace for the US during Mr. Madison's War was that Britian was fighting some guy named Napoleon Bonaparte and was too tied up to send in Wellington to curbstomp the US.
Featherweights should know not to box heavyweights.
September 9th, 2015 at 7:16 PM ^
Didn't you ramble on incessantly about that same war and true reason why there was pirates?
September 9th, 2015 at 7:33 PM ^
seeing it repeatedly during a discussion about France, pirates and war. Nothing to be ashamed of. You just seem to be a internet intellectual. 's'
September 9th, 2015 at 7:36 PM ^
I have never discussed those subjects together on this board.
September 9th, 2015 at 7:43 PM ^
You did the same thing then as you're doing now which is continuing to debate. It's almost like you have an obsession with getting the last word. Kinda funny honestly. Very entertaining reading your posts. I'll be waiting for that last word!!!
September 9th, 2015 at 7:48 PM ^
You're wrong. If you what you wrote was true I would not be challenging your charge. It's easy to accuse someone of something. It's quite another to prove it.
So prove it.
September 9th, 2015 at 7:50 PM ^
You have an obession with getting the last word. Is that how you got your points?
September 9th, 2015 at 8:01 PM ^
My responses to you is proof of nothing other than that I am refuting a charge you have utterly failed to support with proof. Accusing someone of being in a conversation without proving that they were when challenged about it is intellectual dishonesty. Assuming that this conversation took place for the sake of argument(no proof that it did. We only have your assertion that it did.) the reality is that there are many members of MGoBlog. It literally could be any of these people and that you misremembered who it was you were conversing with.
September 9th, 2015 at 8:03 PM ^
you're giving me a headache. How's that for intellectual honesty?

As amusing as the back and forth is, there is a fancy search option on this site that took 15 seconds to settle this.

It wasn't Salvatore mentioning pirates.

But he likes to debate and always needs to have the last word. It's fun pushing his buttons
September 9th, 2015 at 6:57 PM ^
He put "/s" in his post, meaning he was being sarcastic. Just a small PSA on internet lingo :)
September 9th, 2015 at 7:18 PM ^
But thankfully we have you to point out everything that's missed.
You are a true value to this site. 's'

Shut the fuck up. You went postal about a post which was clearly marked /s. Someone reminded you to lighten up. Just take the advice and move along.
September 9th, 2015 at 8:56 PM ^
you weren't even part of this conversation and then you post offensive comments. Did you get sand in your clit as well?
September 9th, 2015 at 8:59 PM ^
Anytime loser. Bring it!

the sarcasm had a flyover.

A burning flag could easily kill someone. Hippie...
September 9th, 2015 at 8:24 PM ^
Not so interested in this mini-thread here, but just putting this out there for mankind: DO NOT BURN AN ACTUAL FLAG. If you must, at the very least don't wave it around and breathe in the smoke. Draw whichever flag you choose to burn on a sheet and then burn that.

flags and other symbols play in it.

September 9th, 2015 at 6:25 PM ^
You made that quite clear in your initial post.
Weapons are instruments. They can be used for good as well as evil.
September 9th, 2015 at 6:22 PM ^
With all due respect, I think you are drawing false equivalences here. We have lots of national symbols that absolutely mean different things. The eagle is a national symbol. It's a rare majestic bird that makes its home in America. A fighter jet is an instrument of war. I am in no an anti-war guy (my original comment really didn't have anything to do with that), but to say I have to be anti-flag and anti-eagle because I am anti-fighter jet is rather silly.
September 9th, 2015 at 6:38 PM ^
Symbols used to promote, encourage, and inculcate a sense of national community among the people.
They are nothing more than props used to act as a collective idol for the community to worship and to pledge allegiance to. Large civilizations and groups of humans have found that they need such idols in order to sustain the community. It gives us something for all of us to hold onto.
In our time these symbols are losing their potency and are often judged to be ridiculous and pernicious to the more jaundiced minds of today.

I'm sorry, but if those people are so offended then they shouldn't live here. By living here and taking advantage of the privileges and luxuries our empire provides they have made themselves as culpable as any. The Middle East has many fine universities for them to attend. They should consider going there if they are so offended by our national symbols.
Secondly, I could say the same about them Muslims and Arabs spent centuries conquering, killing, and enslaving peoples from Europe to India. The Star and Crescent surely should offend blacks and whites alike since they enslaved many Europeans and Africans. Armenian students should be offended because Turkish Armenians slaugthered 1,000,000 of them in a space of a few years.
If we applied your logic the Cross, Star and Crescent, Hammer-and-Sickle, and a countless other symbols that have bloodsoaked histories warranting that they should be torn down and thrown in the dumpster.
