looks awful . David Shaw has been a lackluster play caller the past couple years

I'm the same way, though I still live in the eastern time zone. I prefer the noon start for the day's slate of games. I also love watching the late night games that don't end until (sometimes) 1:00 AM or later.

Rugby style tackling is making such a difference in football. Northwestern has made almost every tackle in open space, often with smaller defensive backs wrapping up much larger Stanford FBs and RBs. They wrap up above the knees, then twist as they go to the ground. Just such a sure way of tackling compared to how they traditionally teach it.
EDIT: Safer, too.

everybody loves the big hits but its also nice to just get a guy on the ground
It always amazes me how major college teams can have trouble with tackling when its such a huge part of the game

Baxter is excellent. I don't worry as much about the special teams now.

Is it me, or is it way harder to watch these games knowing that we lost ours? As long as the offseason wait was, it feels even longer to wait for week 2 after a week 1 loss..

The Utah loss doesn't mean much to me anymore. Our season isn't lost, it has just begun, and there's still plenty to be optimistic about. Still no reason to think we can't get to 8ish wins. It's not like the ND or Utah games last year that just had RED FLAGS all over the place.
I feel like the fanbase has PTSD right now.

I feel down about the loss, as I always have and always will, but I agree with you. The future is VERY bright. I have a lot of excitement about how the team will improve week to week under this new coaching staff. Harbaugh has a lot of talent to work with, and I know he will do fine with it this year.

I completely agree, and I am optimistic as well, but as this point it's almost like Brian said..I just want to fast forward to the good part. Next week can't come soon enough because I want to see this team again, and see them improve.

It is tough. For me, there just isn't that same college football enjoyment after the loss. The offseason Harbaugh hype got the better of my expectations. I should have known better.

What are these trick plays from NW and Stanford that I'm seeing from time to time where the RB gets more than 10 yards?

I want to kick a puppy
And then when any team punts from inside the 40 and it rolls into the endzone I want to do the same

4th and 5 from the NW 37 and they punt? I'm usually of the more agressive type but still that seems a bit too conservative

I hope we never play on a Thursday again, unless it's a championship game or major bowl/playoff game. It doesn't even feel like opening Saturday to me at all today. Bummer.

Geez. This Stanford/Northwestern game is pretty bad. I cannot tell if it is just great defenses or horrible offenses.
September 5th, 2015 at 2:01 PM ^
yea NW might be a dangerous team this year, especially before MSU, or stanford might just be awful on offense.

Looks like Stanford's brains was Harbaugh and not Shaw.
