Equipment: Block M removed from home jersey and pants
We know there will be a new road jersey this season in the final year with adidas, but there has also been an expected tweak to the home jersey.
The criticized block M above the nameplate has been removed. Hopefully the M on the front bumper of the helmet follows it out the door.
New authentic jerseys at MDen. Methinks they'll have a tough time selling adidas gear this year.
At media day for team photo, the players wore their 2014 home jerseys with the nameplate Block M covered up on the back. Presumably since the 2015 game jerseys aren't ready yet or haven't been made.
edit: brought to my attention in the thread.
The new actual Maize colored pants no longer have the Blue Block M on them. Those have been on the pants since 1993.

It would be perfect if they could get rid of the stupid B1G logo.

Of course that's your contention. You're a first-year grad student; you just got finished reading some Marxian historian, Pete Garrison probably. You're gonna be convinced of that 'till next month when you get to James Lemon. Then you're going to be talking about how the economies of Virginia and Pennsylvania were entrepreneurial and capitalist way back in 1740. That's gonna last until next year; you're gonna be in here regurgitating Gordon Wood, talkin' about, you know, the pre-revolutionary utopia and the capital-forming effects of military mobilization.

"Wood drastically underestimates the impact of social distinctions predicated upon wealth, especially inherited wealth"? You got that from Vickers' "Work in Essex County," page 98, right? Yeah, I read that too. Were you gonna plagarize the whole thing for us?

I'm no historian, but the evolution of the market economy in the SEC, er, South, typically begins with a "Bless You Handshake" softened by a fistfull of Benjamins, followed by delivery of a non-descript paper bag equally filled with our favorite national inventor's currency. Repeat as necessary.

I'd buy stuff this year if it's cheaper. Who cares if it's adidas or not? The jerseys and everything look the same anyway.

I just hope Nike gives Michigan Football the classic yet modern look.

All nude.

Ugh. This is horrible. When was the last time we had uniforms (other than the helmets) with no identifying characteristics? We've had pants M's the whole time I've been aware, and had shoulder M's before that.

If you need an M to tell it's Michigan then you need to quit drinking and go to bed.
Winged helmets.

The home jerseys should have literally nothing on them but numbers.

Huh? The M above the nameplate was only there for a year or two. The shoulder Ms were only there for a couple of years in the '90s. In between we were M-less.
The M on the pants is from the '90s. In Harbaugh's time we had no M anywhere on the uniforms. That's what we seem to be going back to, and I like it. I get the sense that he's not going to put up with much uniformz nonsense either.

I agree. I like the M removed from the pants. On some players it was all bunched up.

They'll wear Adidas this upcoming school year. The Nike contract will begin in the summer of 2016.

Wow. Sewing on an M? Really? Just say that again to yourself and see if it makes sense.

This is just the same tweet. This is pure speculation without actual facts. But it wouldn't be the first time you were wrong about jerseys.
August 11th, 2015 at 9:27 PM ^
And again, it was talked about awhile ago that Michigan will be going with a cleaner looking road jersey.
I guarantee there will be a different road jersey this year, one way or another.

Moe always does this with any post I make.
Sewing on a Block M onto 105 or more pairs of pants would be a nightmare task for the equipment staff. For one, they'd be coming undone during games after players hit the deck on turf or grass.
Two, it doesn't make it any sense whatsoever. They've been embroidered since 1993. Why in the world would you start going through extra trouble to sew on a Block M when you can have the company that deals the pants do it since that's what their job is? I could see doing that in the old days when there weren't big dealers like there are now.
August 11th, 2015 at 9:51 PM ^
Do you know that they come pre-embroidered? They probably do, but again most people would assume the helmets come pre-winged.

He's picking on you again.
Sure.
Stop it, Moe. Clearly you're nothing but a meanie!!!

Nah fam, I'm good. I'm gonna give it back to someone that gives it to me.

Greater textile feats have been accomplished in the past and undoubtebly will be in the future. If you don't like them because you don't like them, that's your opinion, and that's okay.
But don't make up some outlandish excuse as to how it would be a massive burden on a seamstress.

Its just vintage WD. Taking an educated guess and running with it like its 100% stone cold fact. Sometimes he's right, sometimes he's not, but he'll never back down.
