The top two squads, USA - Germany, go at it in semi-finals. Hope Solo has to be her stellar self for the USA to win this match. Germany's keeper is no slouch but reminds me of Frau Blucher.

Feel free to discuss your favorite Mel Brooks characters if you don't know or care about the USWMT.

The US defense in general and Johnston, Sauerbrunn, and Brian in particular have completely stoned the German offense. They've been reduced to speculative shots from way outside the box.

The US has been far more threatening but their finishing has been beyond atrocious. If the second half shapes up like the first, the US should win. The US' finishing isn't chronically awful, it was just awful in the first half.

The non yellow on Popp was the only questionable call and she will get a cumulative yellow on the next foul.

I also wonder about the quality of assistant referees. A CR can only be as good as their ARs. Some of the ARs look a little deer in the headlights to me.

Great game so far.  I have no beef with the officiating other than that Popp should have a yellow card now.  She has already been injured, and she is playing too recklessly - a yellow will calm her ass down.

Wambach to replace Alex Morgan probably around 55.  Not sure who else comes in - possibly Rodriguez.  Lloyd drives me nuts, but she has not been bad.  Back four are rock solid, and all of them have been involved offensively.

Germany just not as sharp as they usually are. Even when France was dominating the ball in the quarters, Germany still looked very good with the ball. Look pretty wretched tonight.

Can't complain about that call. It was given because it was wide open and obvious. You can do that in a mess in the box, but not when there's only you, your opponent and the goalie.
