"Pennsylvania brewery honoring Joe Paterno with special beer"

The Duquesne Brewing Company said Monday it's rolling out a brew honoring the late Penn State football coach. The Vienna-style lager, which will be available in mid-August, will come in 12-ounce cans featuring Paterno's image and accomplishments. The brewery says it's working with Paterno's family on the beer. A portion of the proceeds will go to charities the family supports.
Not sure what the brewery is thinking here. I guess they are playing to their customer base and the idea "all publicity is good publicity."

Put 2 otherwise equal resumes in front of a hiring manager: (1) a graduate of Lehigh and (2) a graduate of Alabama A&M.

The Lehigh graduate is getting more interviews ..... but nobody would call that discrimination.

On a side note .... I was interviewing someone in summer 2011 who was an Ohio State grad, in the "small talk" portion of the interview I asked him if he was a Buckeye football fan.

Not that I would have held a "yes" answer against him, but I'll admit that I was wondering if he'd go "off-the-cuff" and give some opinions about JT and all (might have given me some insights to the candidate's thoughts on topics like integrity, et cetera).

FWIW, his answer was "no", he was only a OSU ice hockey fan.  That is, I found one of the 7 OSU ice hockey fans who exist!

Discriminating based on University is not illegal at all, nor should it be. Ask yourself who would get hired for the last open position at a firm: an applicant with a 4.0 from Harvard or an applicant with a 4.0 from Michigan State? Your alma mater is a testament to your capabilities and knowledge and is hardly different from prior work experience or other metrics used to fairly vet candidates for a job.

And I hope that the good people of Pennsylvania boycott the Duquesne Brewery for celebrating a man who purposely ignored and aided the rape of children.  And I hope the brewery suffers enormously.

Just hopes, though ... .

These people know that this beer will sell to both the Anti-Pas and and Pro-Pas. Don't buy this fucking beer and let another crappy brewery perish.

I'm having trouble understanding why this thread is still here.

There's no schadenfreude that we can take from child abuse. None.  It's difficult to make light of the situation.  No, I don't have to click on this thread (or blog), but the fact it's three (3) pages long concerns me.  We're a bit better than this.

Sanctimonious rant completed.

I'm more bothered that it exists, and it really shouldn't at this point.  What started out as a relatively simple "hey, look what this PA brewery is doing with Paterno's legacy" OP turned into fun and games about child molestation.

I'd rather not think of my classmates and our fanbase as one that is entertained by jokes related to sexually abused children.

Let me guess: it smells like sunshine and makes you feel like you're above the law, but later makes you puke your guts out while pissing yourself, and has the strong aftertaste of bitter ashes.
