Michael Onewnu still taking visits
Looks like Michael Onewnu is still taking visits despite committing.
Definitely unsettling but maybe not so bad:
"I'll still be going on my visits," Onwenu said, adding that he'll be visiting some schools "down south" over the summer but not sure where he intends to visit yet.
As uneasy as that might make Wolverines fans feel, Onwenu made sure to add that he doesn't "have anyone in second right now," referring to Michigan being the only school he has intentions of attending after his upcoming senior year.

coming out of pioneer high school, I would commit to Ann Arbor day 1. But best believe as an 18 year old kid, I'd want to go on these glamorous recruiting visits.

Free trips. Uh, why not go? Pretty sure I'd take free trips right now, let alone when I was in high school.
He's not taking free trips. These are paid-for-by-him trips this summer. He can't do officials (the free ones) until the fall.
Do you think Harbaugh should just assume that Mike is going to be part of the class and not recruit anybody else for that position? Or should Harbaugh make the assumption that he's not really committed in any solid sense and keep recruiting for that spot?

The kid has every right to take visits elsewhere. It goes both ways, players decommit from schools, but there are also instances where a coach tells a player there is no longer room for them or cut off contact in hopes the player will decommit. The player and coach both have the right to protect themselves from these situations. In the coaches case even if they have a spot filled for the class they will stay in touch with other interested recruits just in case the player decommits. The player needs to protect themselves by having a backup plan in case they are not allowed to join the class.
I am not saying that I think Harbaugh would ever do this to a player. I do not think any of the players left out to dry thought the coach they committed to would ever do it to them either. Onewnu has seen firsthand with the Webber situation how a coach can be deceitful and act with only his own interests in mind. He may be just trying to protect himself as best he can from a similar situation.
Selfish part of me "NOOOOO DON'T DO IT!!! MICHIGAN MICHIGAN MICHIGAN!"
Realistic part of me "Eh, good for him. Get all the info possible before making the biggest (so far) decision of your life."

When I click on the link, I get "Page Not Found", so the link I read said nothing about paying for the trips out of his own pocket...
I'll take an HR now
Wrong thread....
Go Blue! WCWS!
IMHO, if you've commited to something, you should act lke it. If a kid wants to travel on his or some school's dime, see the world, that's great. I say take all the visits you want, it's a pretty cool country, check it out and have some fun -- just do it before making the commitment.
