Tigers at Sox!
Tigers opening up a 3 game series at White Sox Tonight. Matchups:
Greene / Samardjia
Big Pasta / Sale
Lobtstein / Quintana
Its Sox 1, 2, and 3 pitchers vs our 4, 5, and 6, so edge their. Sox just embarrassed themselves in Minnesota, so I'd expect them give us a better effort.
Tigers are no longer on the flaming hot start, but have settled into a pretty good groove.
As an arm chair manager, I wouldn't mind seeing the lineup change to: 3)Cabrera, 4) Cespedes, 5) Victor. 6) JD.
Its nice how long our lineup is right now, and this maybe shortens it, but I feel like we're wasting those doubles Cespedes is hitting with our 2 slowest players in front of him and then JD isnt great on the bases. Plus Victor would prob drive Cespedes home more than the guys behind him now. The other big downside is losing a switch hitter protecting Miggy. No one would ever consult me for baseball strategy.
The Hawk looked like he was ready to cry to open the broadcast.
a good week.
The only online streams Im finding are of the ChiSox broadcast. Ugh. Guess I will have the sound down.
You could hear a really great rant if they get blown out again.
anyone that has to listen to Hawk for more than 30 seconds.
I'm really hoping the Tigers sweep this series so that the Sox can dump Ventura. He has proven to be completely incompetent as a manager, and I've seen better coached little league teams.
What love for them to hire Gardy instead right now.
Errors! This team is a joke.
News of the White Sox being a contender were a bit overblown.

Did the Tigers get a bullpen yet? Obviously they're good, but it'd be really nice to get a title and it's hard to be optimistic about that the way their bullpen seems to get continuously hammered in the playoffs over the last few years.
Soria looks like the guy they traded for, not much else. Rondon could help when he's healthy, ready, but certainly not a guarantee on any account. Undoubtedly, we'll need to make a trade or two if we're serious.
Rafael Soriano is still out there, and we have money from Nathan's contract being picked up by insurance.
Strike 'em out, throw 'em out double play!
We're having shit weather this evening in Chicago. It is probably mostly diehards in the stands.
The Blackhawks game on at the same time.
I think you guys are in for a promising offseason.
Greene doesn't look good out there.

It looked like he didnt trust his stuff at all out there. Or he had no control. Most of his pitches weren't even close to the strike zone. I don't know if he has option years left, guessing yes, and guessing he's headed to the minors as soon as JV is ready if this is not corrected.
out of the left handed batter's box, then why doesn't he stop doing the switch hitter thing until after he heals?
Brad leaves pitchers in too long. He should have gotten Greene when he walked in the run. It's clear that he wasn't giving us the best chance to win at that point.
Hard to pull a starter in the 3rd inning, nobody likely warm enough yet to come in.
Sox announcers talking about the guy we used to trade for Gose (Devon Travis) like he's the second coming of Babe Ruth and was as hyped as Kris Bryant. I know he was the top prospect in our system for a minute, but only after we called up Castellanos and traded about a half dozen pitchers in front of him.
Sound is coming off shortly, Hawk is bad enough when we're winning, but when Sox are up, no no no.

Well, I'm happy Detroit has the Tigers to root for. As a Chicago native and fan, it is fun to follow the Bulls and the Blackhawks right now, and hopefully for a good month and some. The wheels sure seemed to come off for the Sox. Not a lot of fun.
He got it.
damn.
Dude is nasty. Too bad the Sox rarely need a closer these days.

After horrendous outings last time out, I'm not surprised to see Shark pitch fairly well (and career he's been much better at night as well) and I'd expect to see Sale firing on all cylinders tonight. Sort of bad timing for the Tigers to have the starters line up the way they did. Quintana's turned it around after a rough start to the year too, and you don't get to see either of the Sox's lousy 4/5 starters.
Is anyone else just done with JV and question how good he will be when he's off the DL?
I'm not going to pretend to know how serious his injury is but he was barely "good" last year and I fear it will not improve. He hasn't thrown a pitch yet this year and we have him for the end of time.
Not trying to jump on the pessimitic express but rather the realist express.
this is brutal. The Simon/Greene acquistions' luster has faded awfully fast.
