OT; Pick your event
Great Question on 97.1, You can go to one event this week; All expenses paid, Which do you choose and why?
-NFL Draft in Chicago
-The WIngs game 7 in TB
-The Kentucky Derby
-The Tigers weekend series in KC
-Vegas, (You will not get to go to the actual fight, you will just be in vegas for the atmosphere )Mayweather and Pacman.

I'd pick Whore Island
thats....not a real place.
Without question. Living in Chicago I already hate the draft and all the commotion going on near my office. Game 7 would be cool, but only if it were a Stanley Cup Final. Vegas would be awesome for the fight, but only if I could go see it live. And a May baseball series is last by far.
Edit: This is also supposedly one of the deepest derby fields in recent memory. 5 undefeated 3 year olds will make betting this race incredibly fun.
I would have to pick the Wings game 7 in TB. Win or lose I will be able to drink on the beach afterwards, and you can't argue with that.
understand what you say after Vegas. If you are asking this question and going to MGM Grand to see Mayweather/Pac is an option than its that and its not close. If not the actual fight and just Vegas during the fight my answer would be Game 7.
NFL Draft - No.
Wings Game 7 - No, I think the Redwings missed their chance.
Kentucky Derby - No, I wouldn't want to waste a whole day for a 2-3 minute event. Although it is exciting.
Tigers/Royals series - Yes, winner of series will have a leg up in the AL Central.
Vegas - Meh.
You do know that the Kentucky Derby is actually like 13 or so races long, right? Most people obviously are only familiar with or care about the main event (which isn't even the last race of the day), but it's a full day of events. If you're a betting man, it's hard to beat. If you're fan of all day drinking, it's damn near impossible to beat.
That's very far from the truth. There's the stands, which does have a few sections for high society and in general the cost for even the cheapest seats take quite a far amount of money that most would consider unreasonable. But then there's the infield. In the infield, you'll find all types: from the rowdy frat boy / party areas where you're bound to see plenty of vomit and things that would automatically make a move rated R, all the way to the more quiet and calm family section, and everything in between.
What you've seen on TV is really only half of the spectators and not even close to the big picture of the wide range of people this huge horse racing party attracts.
ALL expenses paid? Vegas for sure.
I could think of a lot of expenses to accumulate in Vegas.
Wings game 7, no doubt about it. Baseball is tops for me but the hockey game is bigger. Never had much interest in actually going to either the NFL draft or Kentucky Derby. The draft is much better as background TV than a thing you actually go to.
NFL Draft for sure. My love of football surpasses my feelings for all other sports by leaps and bounds. A weekend in Chicago also sounds like a fun time.
I would have to say game 7, but unfortunately I can't pull that off. I will be in KC this weekend though for a game or 2. Although, it would be really hard to pass up a trip to Vegas. Vegas is crazy enough on a normal weekend, I can't imagine how much fun it would be this weekend. If I had to rank them, it'd be as follows:
- Game 7 in Tampa
- Vegas
- Tigers in KC
- Kentucky Derby
- NFL Draft (How is this even in the same convo as the first 4? You would have to pay me to go to the NFL Draft)
going to the draft would not be something I would choose to do. Going to a live sporting event far surpasses going to the draft in IMO.
Because if they are, one of you guys can just take the trip for me instead.
If I'm going alone, Vegas. Hands down.
Derby is a distant second.
Wings game 7, there is nothing like live hockey, except live playoff hockey.
Karsch and Anderson listener?

Karsch and Anderson listener?
If I may be allowed to pick an event not on the list, watching my daughter graduate from Michigan on Saturday. (Derby if that falls through)
Game 7 matches are magical.
They're more magical if it's not your team involved. I'm a Wings fan and that seems like pure torture. I'd need a bucket to puke in at least.

for the weekend as it's unique. Game 7 would be fun too.
5. I find the draft interesting, especially early on and even more so when Wolverines are involved. But in general, it's a bit dull.
4. I've been to plenty of Tigers games, and one game in May isn't a huge deal.
3. Been to a handful of Red Wings playoff games, and they never dissapoint, but again, I've done it plenty of times.
2. Las Vegas, my favorite place to vacation in the world. But I've been there 15 times already, so while I'd love to go again, seems like a waste of a free trip. Besides, never have you seen such a big space as the Strip feel so claustrophobic until you go to Vegas during a big fight weekend, NYE or the CES + Porn convention week,
Which means, my ultimate choice would be....
1. The Kentucky Derby. I've been once, about 3 years back. It's a bucket list type of event. I'm not an insane Horse Racing fan year round, but I for some reason go absolutely nuts over the Triple Crown races and think the Derby is the single greatest annual event in all of sports. The last time I went, it was in the infield, so I'd love to enjoy the event at least once while in the stands.
I have wanted to go since I was a little kid. It's going to happen one of these years.
I've always wanted to go. I'd just like to take in the whole atmosphere. The horses. The gambling. The women in the fancy hats. I've heard it's a fascinating experience.
Tempted to pick the Draft, as I went two years ago and it was a load of fun watching everyone make fun of all the Jets fans, but I have to go with game 7. Ain't nothing like playoff hockey, especially game 7 playoff hockey.

Kentucky Derby and it's not close.
The Kentucky Derby is an all-day party, in my experience, so whether or not you enjoy horse racing (and I come from a long line of people who did anyway), you can find yourself having quite a bit of fun. That's probably what I would run with.
The NFL Draft really seems like it is a better TV event than a live one, at least to me. The Tigers series in KC is tempting, but if I am thinking bang for the buck, the Derby might still edge tha out.
My bachelor party is at the Derby this weekend... so that.
Congrats! That is going to be a hell of party for you. Depending on where you decide to go in the infield, your buddies may not even need to get you a stripper.
Regular season baseball zzzzz. Kentucky derby I couldn't care less about (beat the horses more why don't you?) it's obvious game 7. Game 7 in any sport is great but Stanley Cup playoffs is epic.
Not even close for me.
I would pick Hockey because I have never been to a hockey game.

I'd pick the Kentucky Derby since it seems like a great "bucket list" type of thing to do at least once. Having attended several Red Wing playoff Game Sevens -- from the Jacques Demers-John Brophy battle in 1987 to the loss against Pittsburgh in the finals a few years ago -- I can say that few sporting events are as tense as a Game Seven in the NHL playoffs. So, I can certainly see why some would opt for the Wings-Lightning game.
Vegas. I don't care about the Wings or Tigers, it would be fun to go back home to Chicago even if I had to sit through the draft, and the Derby doesn't interest me at all.
Because Vegas.
