OT: 87th Academy Awards/Drinking Thread

Submitted by gopoohgo on

Mrs. Gopoohgo has hijacked the "good" TV,  Me and the dog are eating potato chips as I drink Union "Balt The More" Altbier 32 oz growler.

32 oz is not enough.  Share the pain!

FWIW Thought "Boyhood" was innovative, but not the best movie I've seen (American Sniper).

Did not see "Birdman", but thought Benjamin Cumberbatch (Imitation Game) did the best job of movies I saw.

Not gonna lie, I love the Oscars. Growing up, it was the was the only school nights I could ever really stay up late, so my older sister and I would make a party out of it, and the love it created for this night carried on to adulthood. That said, the champagne flutes are out and my wife and I have the Moscato Spumante on ice and ready to go!

The Oscars is like the Super Bowl for my wife. She's enjoying it on our 65" screen downstairs. I don't have that interest. I just finished watching the hockey game upstairs, will find something else now.

the reporters are intentionally asking (edit:  some) dude they talk to about his outfit, and there's only a tad bit of sarcasm to it. couple more years of that and it'll be second nature.  (edit: maybe not really)

wow you must be young. her "mom" is melnie griffith and she basically used to be on the short list of most beautiful hotties on earth. looks like ms melanie has had a few operations on her face.

that was the most pure moment of this over the top scripted show. melanie REALLY was not comfy with her dau doing that movie. and dakota was none too happy about it. pure columbian win.

I still think X men days of future past is the best movie in the past year. Plenty of academy award nominated and winning actors in that movie too. But then maybe that is why I'm not on the nominating committee.

The people who do the voting are too left wing and artsy fartsy to vote for a movie like that and it is exactly why I have no respect for them. They tend to pick movies that the vast majority of people have never heard of or have no interest in. They hate summer blockbuster films that most people actually love.

This comment should be highlighted for what I hope is satire. First off you unnecessarily bring in politics as if anyone's political persuasion means anything about their taste in films. Do you seriously think only liberals like art films and conservatives only like mainstream summer films? This is beyond reductive stupidity. Also just because something makes a lot of money doesn't make it good. One of the worst posts I've ever seen on here.

Best moment so far

I saw every movie nominated for BP. Loved Grand Budapest the best in a year without a spectacular picture, but think Birdman will win because Hollywood loves itself,

Things I learned tonight: Edward Snowden's girlfriend is a looker. Her name is Lindsey Mills and she's into pole dancing. Most of her pictures wouldnt be Adsense approved.
