His Track record has just gotten stronger...

This is what we knew in '07...

2001 Oklahoma State 4–7 2–6 5th (South)
2002 Oklahoma State 8–5 5–3 2nd (South) W Houston
2003 Oklahoma State 9–4 5–3 3rd (South) L Cotton
2004 Oklahoma State 7–5 4–4 5th (South) L Alamo

2005 LSU 11–2 7–1 1st (West) W Peach 5 6
2006 LSU 11–2 6–2 T–2nd (West) W Sugar 3 3

and that he was 10-1 about to play Arkansas...

Now we know all that, PLUS:

2007 LSU 12–2 6–2 1st (West) W BCS NCG 1 1
2008 LSU 8–5 3–5 3rd (West) W Chick-fil-A
2009 LSU 9–4 5–3 2nd (West) L Capital One 17 17
2010 LSU 11–2 6–2 T–2nd (West) W Cotton 8 8
2011 LSU 13–1 8–0 1st (West) L BCS NCG 2 2
2012 LSU 10–3 6–2 T–2nd (West) L Chick-fil-A 12 13
2013 LSU 10–3 5–3 3rd (West) W Outback 14 14
2014 LSU 3–1 0–1 (West)

He's my guy as of right now... If it's Not Hoke that is.

Among other things, this article lost all semblence of credibility with this sentence:

"San Francisco is off to a 1-2 start and plays the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles, ironically also coached by a former Pac-12 head coach in Chip Kelly..."

I fail to see what is at all ironic here.  Some columnist who has yet to learn the difference between coincidence and irony certainly is undeserving of my attention.  I know he isn't the one with the source, but this alleged stance by Harbaugh has hereby been disregarded by me on the grounds of the writer having a poor grasp of the English language.  I say, "good day!"

The irony here is that he was trying to say something intelligent to make himself sound credible, and in the process of saying something stupid pointed to something profound.  His implicit use of irony to point to the irony of his misuse of the term irony points to a deeper capcity for self-reflection, along with his mastery of the reflexivity of language to turn in on itself as a mirroring of self-referential quality of consciousness, makes him a credible source for reading the minds of others, especially outspoken NFL football coaches, ironically.

If Hoke is released after this season, what about real canidates who are in the college ranks? These are just a few names that I cherry picked: Chad Morris, Gary Patterson, Mike Gundy, Bronco Mendenhall, David Shaw, I'm sure there are a number of others, but guys who are probably more likely than a successful NFL coach moving down to the college level.

I think we need to have a sticky post at the top of mgoboard discussion that lists everyone's candidates because we are seeing the same thing in every post.

p.s. Gundy played at OK State, was a position coach at OK state, was a coordinator at OK State, and is the HC of OK State.  They have a guy named T Boone Pickens who is as mad rich as Stephen Ross and contributes even more to OK State then Ross does to UM.  Gundy will never leave OK State unless he is fired.

p.s.s. David Shaw has no reason to leave Stanford.  Great weather, same academics (or better), better conference, established program, no need to rebuild, system in place, no need to uproot his life.  The only thing UM can offer him is (a) larger stadium (b) more all time wins (c) acting stupid and paying him a salary that would make us look dumb.  Like at Nick Saban level.

Man are we going to be seeing posts like this everyday for the next 3 months? Really no point in speculation until Brandon or Hoke actually get fired first.

What is he going to say. I have great interest in coaching in college again. That would open up flood gates of speculation. He will most likely be looking around for a new job since the 49ers don't want to pay him what he wants and he doesn't get a long with the owner.

Colin today on his show on ESPN said that Harbaugh is not coming to Michigan. I believe him as he knows everything about everything. He is God or close to it. Insider source are actually true. I wouldn't trust outsider source though. /s

STOP TALKING ABOUT HARBOUGH. It is never going to happen...never! This fan base is starting to act like the older brother that had move back in with mom and dad while little brother is killing it on his own. Stop living in the past, grab the boot straps move out of the basement and get on with it!

We're all talking about Jim Harbaugh ... the other guy who is being paid a bunch of money to coach NFL football and who's family live like royalty in sunny Palo Alto, and loves it. (It is not permacloud gray and cold from November to April out there - really.)

I think John is more likely than Jim, and neither is very likely (nor is Les). Also, if the Regents could just fire Dave Brandon, I'd be fine letting the season play out before deciding on Hoke and staff since Mattison and the players so strongly believe things will get better.

Harbaugh could come out to the media, hold a press conference, wearing an OSU shirt, and say "I'm never, ever, ever coming to coach Michigan!" And people would still speculate about whether he was being a mad genius by throwing off the scent of his arrival....

There is no point in firing Hoke unless Brandon is also going to be canned. No legitimate coach is going to come to Michigan and put up with DB's Jerry Jones level bullshit.

Q: Coach Hoke, would you like to be head coach at the University of Michigan?

A: Yes! Please Yes! I would crawl from California to Ann Arbor to get the job.

vs.

Q: Jim, would you be interested in coaching in college at your alma mater?

A: Absolutely Not. Not interested in coaching in college and the weather is better in California.

Q: Jim, what if we offer you $5mm a year?

A: No Thanks,

Q: How about $8 million?

A: Done!
