MGoBlue release
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan and University of Washington will renew an old rivalry when the two football programs meet for a home-and-home series during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. This will be the 13th and 14th meetings between the two schools.
The Wolverines will travel to Seattle, Wash., for the matchup on Sept. 5, 2020, at Husky Stadium. The return trip by the Huskies will take place at Michigan Stadium on Sept. 18, 2021.
"We are excited to rekindle a rivalry that has showcased some great games and great teams for both programs," said Brady Hoke, U-M's J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach. "There have been some exciting, down-to-the-wire football games between Michigan and Washington and we anticipate the same type of contests when this series is played at the outset of the next decade."
This will be the fifth time that the two programs have played a home-and-home series.
Michigan and Washington have met on 12 previous occasions with the Wolverines holding a 7-5 edge. U-M has a 3-1 record at Michigan Stadium and is 2-2 at Husky Stadium. The two programs have played in the Rose Bowl on four instances, with each team claiming two championship trophies.
Michigan won the most recent meeting between the two teams. Philip Brabbs converted a 44-yard field as time expired to provide 13th-ranked Michigan with the season-opening 31-29 victory over 11th-ranked Washington (Aug. 31, 2002). Michigan missed three field goal attempts prior to Brabbs first career conversion.

I went to the game at Husky Stadium in 1983. The Husky fans were not very hospitable, especially when Michigan went ahead, before ultimately losing 25-24. I hope to make the return visit in 2020 and leave with revenge.

As a new grad Seattleite I am super excited by this news! There are tons of Michigan grads out here so we will be sure to have a good fan showing.

Looking at the open dates the next home and home may be a 2024/2027 split.
I'll be starting a death pool thread shortly...

I just hope Michigan will be able to match them by then.

Not sure if serious or not, but if Petersen amounts to the same as he did at Boise St, he won't be at Washington by the time we play them. He'll be at a legitimate football school.

Washington is most definitely a legitimate football school. 6-7 Rose Bowls, a national title, and dozens of players sent to the NFL since 1979.

here's to hoping that the next announcement will be for the 2018, 2019 seasons.

The 2002 game is the last time I watched UM kick a field goal live. After Brabb's second miss, I couldnt take it anymore. I guess it is my superstition, haven't seen anything other than the replay since.
This proved beneficial to my disposition during the great kicking woes of a few years back.

Nice city, solid competition, already have Va Tech those years, remodeled stadium, Should be fun, Plus, isn't the Boise St Coach there now? He will upgrade that team by then.

Maybe we are willing to play someone decent opposite Arkansas - a road game in 2018 and a home game in 2019. How about Cal, Clemson, or Auburn?

In the last game I remember walking away from the TV after we turned the ball over, only to run back in as my friend excitedly shouted that we were kicking for the win! I'm looking forward to playing them again.
Before you scold me for walking away, I'll note that I was about 8 and didn't really know what was going on.

Only six years off. I suggest if you can make it out to the game in Seattle, to do so in 2020. The stadium is right on the shore of Lake Union and the setting is absolutely gorgeous. The stadium was refurbished last year. The weather in Seattle in early September is near perfect and Seattle is a great city to visit.
Well worth the trip.

direct contact with Michigan football, but I remember that hot fall Saturday when Brabbs atoned for earlier misses with a clutch kick that sent the faithful at the Big House home with one of the great comeback wins in any opener, well, except Lloyd's first-ever win over Virginia on another broiling September Saturday.
Later, while enjoying Michigan games at the Michigan bar in Charlotte, Phil Brabbs, now a graduate and living locally, used to mingle with us and, of course, he will forever be a legend because of that kick that beat the Huskies.
