Inkster wins a tough one?

Submitted by MichFan1997 on
Just read on a live blog about HS Football that Inkster knocked off Stuebenville (OH). That's a HUGE win for them as they beat a Ohio power and make the playoffs in Michigan. Anybody, if you can find game info, I'd love to hear it. UPDATE: THE GAME IS STILL IN THE THRID. INKSTER LEADING 20-15 WITH 1 MIN LEFT IN THIRD.

This is a huge win Steubenville fans are crushed they are all in love with that team. Big red is one of the best programs in Ohio if not the best. That was a 68 game winning streak snapped. Their qb is going to central michigan so he is pretty talented they have had various d1 prospects including Zach Collaros who came in and won the game for Cincy last week.

Having played Ohio High School football I can tell you those teams are traditionally the best in Ohio for their division. Ohio football is broken up from Division 1 to D-5, D-1 is the biggest, D-2 is next, and so on. Last I checked Steubenville was D-3 team. This win against Steubenville, while impressive, they are not among the great teams in Ohio like Cincinnati Elder, Xavier, Moeller, Massillon Washington, Dublin Coffmann, etc. How does Inkster stack up to other schools in Michigan, are they D-1 equivalent?

While the schools you listed are bigger than Stuebenville, Washington has never actually WON a state title, they've had some great ball players and teams, but that whole Massillon-Canton home of football tradition stuff is for the birds, Dublin Coffman was another Columbus cow town school before the population boom of the last twenty years. Also, while the cincy schools are traditionally very very good, it is disputable as to whether they are annually better than Stuebenville. Don't take this as critical by any means, but you can't at all downplay this win, it is a giant win for Inkster as they've just defeated one of the most tradition rich high school programs in the country.

they lost the State Championship game last year to East Grand Rapids. Overall, they probably don't matchup to the top teams of D1 and D2 such as Rockford, Stevenson, Detroit Catholic Central, Lowell, ect. I think that they're definately Top 25 overall in Michigan, but I'm not sure that they're Top 10.

I like how Inkster gets crushed by a team, East Kentwood, that's not traditionally as good but beats 2 Ohio powerhouses, St. Eds and Steubenville. Is this proof that Michigan High School Football is getting better and is not as bad as many think?

So I heard from somebody this week that Inkster didn't play any home games this year along with their traveling down to Ohio to play teams. What's with their scheduling if that's true? Seems like a weird thing to do.
