Chris Balas/On3 ($$$) reporting Mason Graham injury

A couple of posters referenced this in the defensive UFR for the week. I don't subscribe so I can't read anything but the blurb, but maybe this gets things moving and someone has more information to share with the board. Obviously sucks if he's going to be "out for a while".

Yeah, it's weird to say it given the situation even 2-3 years ago but DT is one of the areas I'm not super-worried about in terms of minor-ish injuries due to depth.  Benny is a solid backup, you can role Goode and Grant around, etc.  It will put a bit more strain on the edges to generate pass rush but I don't see Rutgers, Minnesota, or Nebraska really grinding up and down the field up the middle.

Had this thought and had nowhere to put it... now i do, so thanks.

I saw a clip of Graham last week, and though I know he's a mauler type with a wrestling background, he seemed less jacked than I expected for a DT type. Just curious on the physique expected for that position. Seems to be large large guys who don't move (NT type) and then guys who are large but extremely quick. I thought of him as more of the latter, but he didn't seem as big/built as I thought.

Just curious what people might typically expect since to me he didn't look as jacked as I expected.

I have similar thoughts when I see the muscle definition of our basketball players and then compare it to other teams who have guys with muscles coming out fo their ears.

Or, perhaps the video/pic was just out of context and then nm!

Fair point - he seemed to be the quick off the ball, be disruptive kinda guy last year. His body type is starting to look more like immovable object... but as you said.. in 2-3 years, itll be interesting to see where he ends up.

On a related note, I saw Mo Hurst get a sack for Cleveland this weekend - that was kinda cool. Thought he was out of the league!

I broke a thumb in season in college and missed 2 game and then played the rest of the way with a club. Hand fighting changes but you don't necessarily become worse at it with a club, it's just different. Graham having a background as a wrestler is really important and going to be super valuable. It's a bummer he'll miss games but he'll be able to be as dominant once everything is healed enough to play.

Injuries can destroy otherwise great seasons and so far this is sucking.  Will Johnson, Rod Moore, Graham.  3 of our 10 best players right there.
