No brainer. But boy was that tough watching them get smothered. Could barely get a shot up. Great year though ladies!

And tonight, a great moment of her running downcourt to block a layup near the end of the first half.
That was an amazing, amazing play. But damn, bench number 32. Watch her jog down the court, Naz starting behind her, but outhustling her, running by her, and making the amazing block. EFFORT!

She was hurt in the Indiana game in late January and was out for a month. Played through injury the rest of the way and was typically seen wearing a boot when not on the court, in fact even was in a boot in a couple team pictures of practice during the tournament. Think this is a case of her being too hurt and we saw the decision being made that this was the case when she was taken out of the game and didn't play much/at all in the second half.

This should be done by tomorrow! Nobody is more deserving than Naz.

I think we should plan for it but let the legacy build first. The other alternative is to let future stars wear it like the football #1 jersey. The jersey can be retired without the number being retired.
So FYI that is the case for the men's numbers in the rafters. Players can still wear the numbers that are honored now.
EDIT* Cassie is the exception. No 33 is retired, not in use. The others are honored, but still worn.
Cazzie.

I second the motion!

Does this mean that the jersey number "0" is also retired? It is caught in a no-man's land of numerical identity. Not quite "00", but definitivally smaller than 1. It is a debate for philosophers, i.e. does 00 equal 0?
Go to a casino and you can find out.
Incredible book. Thank god for the Arabs, Europeans thought it sacrilegious. In the end, they needed it, though:

Raise the jersey. Add the spotlight. She’s a legend

Yes!
Not so fast my friend, There’s a small chance she comes back for a 5th year.
Really? Wow. She can work on a jump shot.

Bring them all back. Our freshman guard #5? She is going to be a good one when she gets her layups dialed in. We need speed at the guard positions. Cant have the backcourt be a step slower then your forward.
“The house that Nazzie built” she definitely built the program
Watching her effort for the last 4 years has been inspiring. She just never stopped working. She consistently beat the other bigs down the court on her rim runs & established position in the post. And if she happened to miss, her 2nd jump to get her own rebound for a put back was amazing. All this while actually being an undersized post player. Gonna really miss her as a leader as much as a player. A special young lady.
No question. She is legend.
Technically speaking she has a decision to make first. Surely we could find 50k for freaking Naz Hillmon and match her rookie salary, right?
I support this proposal.
Yes.
She definitely deserves it. The key question is when--you can do it right away, sure, but maybe wait until she's played out all (or a major part of) her professional career and make this a part of her career accolades when she can share it with her family and when it might mean more at that stage in life. If it were me, I'd probably want the latter but recognize that others may see it differently.
i've loved naz from the very first moment i saw her, which was her very first moment on the crisler court, and i absolutely think we should - and will - retire her number.
i'd like us to wait for a while, however, if only to let the returning players build their own legacy.
i'd also say - let naz finish a bit more of her own story, and let her gain some of her own perspective on the Michigan experience.
She's a class act..... incredible how she's able to keep level headed, even keeled, even in the heat of the battle.
Great run, Naz, thanks for the memories!
Just a super-appealing person.

Naz is one of the best athletes in Michigan history regardless of sport. She should’ve had her jersey retired on Senior Night!
Absolutely
First comment here in a long time. Just came here to say "yay" to this proposal.
Carry on.
Yes do it and maybe a statue in Chrisler.
Yes they should
Would like to add #3 for Katelynn Flaherty. All-time leading scorer in Michigan basketball history- man or woman
Maybe table this a bit. she got done playing two days ago. She will be up eventually i'm sure.
