Don't be. Read up about how Michigan fans treated the Fab V, the vile letters from M fans that flooded the AD's office. Every sign of vulnerability, every loss has brought out the creeps and the cretins here.
Warde would be a fool to not immediately contact Beilein, before Warde decides Howard's punishment.
Beilein is the epitome of ethical behavior and ethical standards. Would show the whole country UM doesnt put up with Howard's madness.
Beilein is 69. Let him coach until he doesnt want to, which may be only 2 or 3 years. Beilein is UM's greatest basketball coach. UM's current coach just pulled a Woody Hayes.
I dont even see how this can be a debate. Warde has to contact Beilein. It's no-brainer.
Well, now we simply must keep the facts straight here. He did not pull a Woody Hayes. Juwan's only field of play infraction was to enter the court to grab a basketball, not punch a player. He was off the court when he slap-punched a coach.
Detroit News columnist (DetNews is usually favorable to UM. Unlike the Free Press) calls for Howard to be fired. This column doesnt get posted unless at least a few, perhaps most, of the editors at the Detroit News agree.
I think we all are in our 'feels' right now. Coach Howard is a beloved figure in our University community, and I think we all are saddened by today's events. However, if Juwan doesn't survive this, I don't think the OP is wrong about John Beilein. The program would need someone to come in and restore calm and stability. Today's incident could be quite damaging to the long term success of the program, and that should be the first thought from the University administrators. The reputation of the University, and the stability of the program are what's important right now.
I don't see Juwan getting fired over this nor do I think he deserves to be. Is it a bad look? Absolutely, but lets hear the story about what really happened first. I sure hope Wade does. That said, if he were to get fired I want Beilein back as well.
You mean the guy that bounced? Loved JB but hated that he left at the time he did. I think Juwan deserves to have the whole issue play out before we write his epitaph.

Plus Juwan wore baggy shorts when he played basketball. No idea how he got hired in the first place.

It wasn't the Detroit News. It was Nolan Finley. "This piece expresses the views of its author separate from those of this publication."
I like the part where he refers to Howard having to be restrained from 'the smaller, older Gard."

Actually, UM just brought back Mary Sue Coleman as Interim after Schlissel, so the same for JB may not be that far-fetched.
