Thoughts on Juwan and the Towel
You saw it. Midway through the second half, after a bunch of his guys had slipped on the floor, Juwan got down on his hands and knees HIMSELF and cleaned the damn floor. And he looked pissed.
As the TV guys said - and as others on Twitter have noted - I don't think I've ever seen that before.
"As you can tell,” Howard said after the game, “I don’t mind getting my knees dirty.”
So, was this just a quirky little moment, or can we read a little more into it? My thoughts:
- I loved it, and I love this guy more every day.
- It showed me a coach who truly doesn't think he's better than anyone else or above anything. We've always heard and known how humble he is, but that illustrates it perfectly. Recruits and others are going to recognize that. Real recognize real.

I'm truly happy Michigan hired him. It's great knowing we have good and decent human beings (Harbaugh too of course) running those two programs.

I wouldn't read too much into it, other than as a former player he can tell when a floor isn't right.

I think Juwan will be a better coach than Jerry Tarkanian. (Not that towel?)

It's a good look because when he asks the player to do extra, subconsciously they really can't object, can they, when they see the coach doing something nobody else will.

Yep, subtle WTF to the refs and a subtle GET IT DONE to the team...Juwan knows what he’s doing...

Dude came from next to nothing and has worked his ass off for everything he has, it’s how he lives his life. He will bring the program much success if he sticks to his guns.

Loved it!! It was like watching an AAU coach go out to make sure his kids were safe. We had a player in the corner who had hit the deck pretty hard and he was making sure that it wasn't going to happen again. It was a coach looking out for his kids.
Never before have I seen that happen and probably never will.
I also watched him discuss things with his players in the huddle during the TO's and loved how he interacted with them. I'm loving his approach. I hope he keeps on winning!

Love what Juwan did. Shows he cares about his guys. Also that "arena" is a POS and an injury hazard.

And he wasn’t just wiping the floor. He was WIPING THE FLOOR. He was doing it with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.

From everything said about him from his Fab Five teammates, to the Miami Heat folks, and NBA players, Howard is a truly a humble, honest, and true Blue Michigan man.
In my case, my freshman son, who is not an outgoing person, sent me with an excitement a selfie of him with Howard at diag early this year.
As he was at the edge of the crowd, he didn't expect a chance for the selfie. But Howard waited for everyone and called out my son as well for the pic at the end. This told me all I need to know about Howard, and I am truly proud of having him as our coach.

Figured this out just now, eh?

I didn't see that, but it sounds awesome! What I did see was, with just a minute, or so, left, he put his arm around Martelli asking him questions. 'Hey, what do you think? How should we handle this?'
When the superstar head coach is seeking advice from an assistant, wiping the floor, etc, you just know he's going to be good!

Anyone who thought Juwan was a bad fit doesn’t understand Michigan or Juwan Howard at all. Morons with heads up their collective asses...
