Not a good story.  Happened Last night.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse men’s basketball coach Jim Boeheim struck and killed a man walking outside his vehicle on Interstate 690 around midnight, a source has confirmed for Syracuse.com | The Post-Standard. The man in his 30s had been in a car with four others near Thompson Road in Syracuse when their vehicle crashed for unknown reasons, said a source familiar with the investigation. The man at some point got out of his vehicle, the source said. That’s when Boeheim drove by and struck the pedestrian, the source said.

Last night I was driving down the road at about 9:00 p.m. (so it was already dark) on a 35 MPH street, and two teenagers were riding on their bikes in the opposite, oncoming lane, wearing black/dark blue clothes. I was glad they weren't coming toward me, but I was worried about what happened to them after I passed. It takes a special kind of stupidity to do stuff like that.

Hate to hear stuff like this. By all accounts, Boeheim did nothing wrong. Not intoxicated, driving recklessly or showing any kind of negligence behind the wheel. Just a tragic accident where he had no time to react, and both individuals were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Hope that both Boeheim and the victim's family can find peace and move on, but with Boeheim, this is going to be with him for the rest of his life. This isn't something a person can just get over.

ESPN Gameday was scheduled to be at Syracuse Saturday. The WWL has decided it would be inappropriate to have such a celebratory event given this circumstance. They have d3cided to do Gameday from the studio in Bristol. I don’t understand. Though Coach Boeheim’s accident is tragic, it is no more so than any other accidental death.

I had to change a flat tire on I-70 about an hour outside of St Louis, heading toward Kansas City. The tire was on the highway side of the car. I cleared my mind and went to work, despite cars and semis racing by. Within a few minutes a State Trooper pulled up and angled his car toward the highway, flashers blazing. I’ll never forget it. To this day, I am so thankful for the Show-Me State troopers.
