Duke v. UVA, Saturday Night Hoops, NCAA tourney Speculation, Beverage, etc
Mates,
UVA v. Duke just tipped off. Very interesting game to watch for those so disposed to do so. Glad for our Wolverines with a hard-nosed win v. a talented and determined UW. The NCAA released its initial top seeding and we came out at #6, getting a 2 seed. Its Saturday night (almost) and you have your BBQ lit and a cup of (beverage) in your hand.
2 Questions:
1. So who wins UVA v. Duke (may not choose 'meteor')
2. Speculate like crazy about the NCAA seedings, only what, a month away from the real deal.
Have a great night and congrats again to the maize and blue - muppet worthy effort today.

The Gaels have made six tournaments in the last fourteen years. From the WCC with Gonzaga usually win the conference tournament so they have to be an at large. That's a really good program.

How good is St Marys this year? What is their best win?
How about that Santa Clara team? And the San Diego Burritos?.
Name one team this year in that conference that is worth a shit, other than Gonzaga...

They're 40th in Kenpom.

Bitching about Gonzaga is an exercise in futility. They're good. Plain and simple.

Annnnnnd Nebraska ran out of gas. 10-0 Boiler run and it's a 12 point margin in like 90 seconds.

Drinking CopperCraft. Distilled in Holland, Mi. First time trying it and I like it. Not sure how I match it up with Butchers Cut Bourbon from Detroit but its good.

The Coppercraft Applejack mixed with hot tea makes a wonderful hot toddy!

Brian points out that Teske now leads the country in turnover rate. Ace chimes in he's the only dude since '08 with a turnover rate under 7% and a block rate over 7%.

Those two facts are nothing short of astounding.

Wild Turkey 101, and I'm just glad we grated the Fighting Cheesewedges and survived the flopping and hacking festival they always bring with them. Wisconsin basketball is execrable

How is MSU a 2 seed when they recently lost 3 in a row including against a bad Illinois team and we are also a 2 seed with only 2 total losses which were on the road against top 20 teams?
February 9th, 2019 at 10:17 PM ^
Because they love stroking Izzo and his floor slapping slappies. Lose 3 in a row and they hardly drop in the polls. Just beat them on the court and the rest will sort itself out.

Illinois allowed 94 to Rutgers today. In OT, but still.

Being a 2 seed hasn't always stopped them from losing in the first round before! I eagerly await the next Sparty master class in choking

Good point, another first round meltdown would be wonderful. Mid Tenn St was a classic. Watched the end of that game at a bar in St Thomas. Great memories!!!

It's shocking but proves the committee is all in on the efficiency margin that NET uses/advanced stats.

Yeah that’s nuts. Of the 3 losses, Illinois isn’t even the only bad loss: At home vs an Indiana team on a 7-game losing streak is terrible. MSU should probably be a 4-seed right now.

Nebraska's complete refusal to run offense is frustrating.

Finished off the bottle of a Knob Creek store pick. Family is over for my sons bday. We are all dialed in but my house is getting beat to shit. Guess I’ll worry about it tomorrow. ??♂️

Boilers pull away, I imagine they'll be favored in every game except Tuesday's (at Maryland).
February 10th, 2019 at 12:21 AM ^
They'll be favored in each individual game but they likely won't win them all. See: MSU last week.

Nebraska flat out stinks this season.
February 9th, 2019 at 10:37 PM ^
KenPom has them 33rd. The Big Ten is really good. Purdue is especially pretty good. Though unfortunately for them, Painter historically peaks right about now and they start fading around Valentine's Day.
February 9th, 2019 at 11:04 PM ^
33rd? Didn't know that and certainly wouldn't have guessed anything better than mid 50's.
I know Kenpom takes the entire season into account, but Nebraska hasn't looked even remotely competitive for about the last month. Sure, they hung in there for a half tonight, but reverted back to form badly the last 20 minutes.
February 10th, 2019 at 12:26 AM ^
Kenpom does take the full season into account and the algorithm also doesn't take into account injuries and they lost Isaac Copeland a couple weeks ago.
It's rare that a team could look so promising for 12-15 games and then fall off a cliff like Nebraska has.

Eff Coach K for always being elite and moreso for going all Grecian Formula at his age. Yo Coach Eye Chart - stop the vanity and own your age... You're over 70 and you fool no one with that aberration that resides above your ears....
Beilein - now there's a man's follicular man.
