Are we done giving Don Brown a free pass?

I’m so sick of hearing about Don Brown’s #1 defenses. They are overrated garbage. Learn to adapt to what offenses are doing against you or leave. They have given up over 100 points in the last 2 games. Ridiculous.

Brown's defense is great till it comes to games that matter, then his defense is taken apart by a good offense.  Time to quit bringing him out of the old folks home every Saturday, thinking he can do something against a good team

I can’t agree more but get lambasted when I have brought this up.  I did not watch and won’t anymore.  I’m recording and only watching if we win.  My buddy from high school is a huge gators fan we have a 100.00 bet for the last 3 games.  I sent him the check two weeks ago.  This game was over before it started, and it didn’t matter who they played after the blowout embarrassment in the Ohio game. Judging by the score our offense was not so hot either.  Saw wreck it Ralph 2 during the game with my son.  I recommend it it’s not bad.

Not sure about a free pass, but football is an offensive game now and any team relying on mostly defense to win is going to lose big games. It’s too demoralizing for the defense to get a 3 and out to start the half only to see the offense do nothing with it. There were some bad moments on defense that led to instant touchdowns. The busted coverage and the 3 and 20 run. But the D looked to be playing hard. I’ll bet Florida busted a few coverages on D too, but UM was too busy doing body blows to make them pay. Today wasn’t good, but Don Brown was not the main problem. Never thought a Harbaugh offense would look so impotent.

God time to vent.  His defenses are absolutely overrated.  No matter that Gary and Bush were out or what the season long stats say, against any good teams, and, bad teams with a decent QB and WR, his defenses get beat repeatedly.  Once he gives up some passes, and, pulls the safeties back, teams run very well.

I would say the DB coach has to go.  Our very talented DBs got beat like a drum these last two games.  Our back seven pass defense has been poor for some time, masked by beating up one teams with poor O lines where he can blitz effectively.

All that venting on the defense though overlooks the fact the the offense regressed to O'Korn'ish levels.  What kind of game plan was that?  Why are they not running Patterson, thats his game, not a pocket passer.  The dogged persistence and commitment to an ineffective run inside run game one;y leads too the defense being on the field way too much.

Yep, the lustre is off Don Brown and his staff however, the biggest problem with M football is that they still do not have an offense.

Don Brown gets another year.  Pep H has to go and a real O coordinator brought in.

We are playing a match up, one on one type defense. It requires our players to he better, or at least, as good as the other player. This just isn't the case against better offenses and is impossible to maintain against top teams. Brown has seemed to turn the defense into a one trick pony and really needs to turn us into a multiple defense which we are not at this point.

He was short several critical guys, No DC would've been successful with guys like Bush, Gary, etc. out on short notice.

Yes, I mean I wouldn't fire him of course but the defense got clowned by a mediocre offense today. Missing bush and Gary was obviously a big hit, but it is essentially the same Florida personal that did nothing against last year's d. And that d was replacing a bunch of starters from the year prior so the circumstances aren't that dissimilar

Well opposing offenses aren't to worried. Probably spend less than 1 hour a week breaking down UM defense.

Is it just me or is Belichick a genius? He knew Patricia was going to leave eventually around the time Harbaugh was looking for a DC. So why not tell Harbs to hiring this great DC like brown. If he does well, scoop Brown up in a few years to run the Pats D and keep rolling like the patriots do. If Brown fails to show what he can do with good athletes then no lost to Belichick. And we get screwed. I think Harbs got played on this one.

I told a few fans mid season that there has to be some DC out there who is younger and do just as good good or better as Don Brown. They laughed me out of the tailgate, thought I was crazy. No, I don't have a list of names but given all the D1 division teams, there has to be really viable talent out there. I wouldn't cry in my beer if Don Brown to leave or retire before the 2019 season starts.

I think this team had leadership issues.  I know we wont here it publicly, but there was some poor body language with some of the players the last 2 games.  I am not sure everyone on this team was all in, especially with some  players leaving during the season and immediately after the season.
