Michigan with its last high major nonconference game of the season. Go Blue!

Ugly half of basketball.  36 or 37 Michigan possessions, depending on if you give USC (NTUSC) a steal on the let’s-maul-Livers play or if you call it an offensive rebound.  ESPN did the former, so I’ll go with that.  USC had an extra possession (Simpson’s buzzer heave shouldn’t count).

Michigan with an amazing 1.14 ppp despite shooting 27% from 3 and turning the ball over on 29.7% of their possessions (!).  This is due to being 11 / 14 from the line and collecting 50% of their own misses on the offensive glass.  (They’re also shooting 68.8% from 2).

USC, on the other hand, scores 0.95 ppp, with a 16.7% OREB rate.  They’re shooting 50% from 3 (but only four attempts) and 46.4% from 2, which is much higher than Michigan’s normally allowed. Their turnover rate of 15.8% is the big difference.

I can’t imagine Michigan will make the same mistakes in the second half, so it’ll probably be a slower game — maybe 35 additional possessions.  USC likely can’t do much better than 1 ppp, so 71 should be a winning score.

I loved Teske’s block on Kotsar, where Kotsar got him in the air, didn’t get the shot off in time (or draw a foul), and Teske blocked it flat-footed after landing (!).

I thought they got rid of TV timeouts if a team just called a time out?

Edit:  If I have to see that sunset heart hands commercial one more time, I'm going to lose my lunch.

The faster and more frequently this team can get 5+ guys in double figures, the more games this team will win and go deep into the tournament. They need balance to thrive

I truly don’t mean to hate or put anyone in a Michigan uniform down, but it really seems that whenever Austin Davis enters the game, the other team makes a mini run and the offense bigs down. I wish him the best but till then, I hold my breath when he is in the game.
