Michigan v. Villanova Basketball tonight 6:30 FS1
I think a PSA may be in order about this game. Never has a National Championship game rematch garnered less attention from a fan base than this one. I was kind of thinking there would be a preview today or something, a mention, a faint whisper, a fading memory, something, maybe?
Anyway, I get it, there is a lot of football still to be played. And frankly, if this year follows the same path as, like, every Beilein team except for that one we will lose this game in howling fashion. But it is a thing that is occurring so just a reminder to check in on it tonight. Revenge tour continues? Maybe? No?
Go Blue.

Lulz Poole still Poole! It was actually a helluva stutter/fake and he got Pashcal off him for an open shot...then air mails it
November 14th, 2018 at 7:17 PM ^
Matthews is good at basketball!
November 14th, 2018 at 7:18 PM ^
Stuck ball on an oop. Wow, things you don't see every night.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:18 PM ^
Ohhhh nice steal Matthews
November 14th, 2018 at 7:19 PM ^
Love being wrong about this game so far. Keep it up in the second half boys.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:19 PM ^
This is going to be another fun season.
November 14th, 2018 at 8:55 PM ^
And the fun has already begun!
November 14th, 2018 at 7:20 PM ^
I'll take this TO to ask whether Nova is actually good, like they're current ranking says they are, or if their just living off last years success? I don't know...
But UM looks pretty good in the first half, here...
November 14th, 2018 at 7:23 PM ^
They lost 4 nba players, might take them a bit to get going
November 14th, 2018 at 7:23 PM ^
It’s hard to know but I feel like our defense is legit and our shooting is lagging a little.
Develop the latter and this is a dangerous team.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:25 PM ^
Their ranking is just like Georgia's in football. Based upon last yearsy results without accounting for departures. Georgia lost 34 seniors from last year Iirc.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:20 PM ^
too bad we can't time warp this back to last April
November 14th, 2018 at 7:20 PM ^
January February Beilein Beilein may June July Izzo September October Beilein December
November 14th, 2018 at 7:22 PM ^
Revenge tour revenge tour revenge tour
November 14th, 2018 at 7:50 PM ^
Just heard the announcer say that!
November 14th, 2018 at 7:23 PM ^
Wow. Hard to top a half like that.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:23 PM ^
we can't let their defensive pressure in the second half effect them like the Ohio State game last year.
Sometimes intermission comes at the worst time.
Keep up the energy and take care of the ball! Go Blue!
November 14th, 2018 at 7:23 PM ^
I thought going in to tonight's game that our defense would keep it close all the way, but...
WOW!!!
WHAT A FIRST HALF!!!
November 14th, 2018 at 7:24 PM ^
[ESPN halftime push notification comes in]
Ye Gods, man!
November 14th, 2018 at 7:25 PM ^
Wow...can they just call the game now, please? Can we mercy rule them? 44-17 at the half is amazing to see given all the negative prognosticators on this thread about an hour ago.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:25 PM ^
Lol. Go Blue!
November 14th, 2018 at 7:25 PM ^
This is fun.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:26 PM ^
One of the best half’s that I can remember. Defense was incredible.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:27 PM ^
I don't care how raw 'nova is - they're national champs, have a bunch of good players and a tough home court.
Michigan played an incredible half of basketball!
Amazing, suffocating defense, aggressive rebounding the likes of which we haven't seen from a Beilein team, and smart offense.
With Mathews, Iggy, Livers and Teske, we're gonna be able to swarm the basket; if we can generate just enough outside shooting, we're gonna be damn tough.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:29 PM ^
ty butterfield, we’re gonna have to really pour it on to lose by 20 at this point
November 14th, 2018 at 7:29 PM ^
So, I counted 30 first half possessions for Michigan and 29 for Villanova. Michigan, despite throwing up two air balls from 3 and missing the front end of a 1 and 1, managed a stunning 1.47 ppp in the first half. Villanova? 0.59. That's... I don't even.
Michigan is shooting 14/20 on 2s; 'nova is 4/15.
Michigan with 1 turnover for a 3.3% turnover rate; Villanova has 10, for a 34.5% rate.
The only place where Michigan is trailing a bit is on the offensive glass; Michigan is rebounding 31.3% of their misses whereas Villanova is getting 40%.
Even if you assume the pace picks up a bit in the second half, and you figure Villanova might get 1.25 ppp at the top end -- 61 points might win this game. Basically, if Michigan can score 0.5 ppp in the second half, they've got a good chance to win, and if they can manage 0.8 ppp, it's almost a foregone conclusion.
Go Blue!
November 14th, 2018 at 7:31 PM ^
Or we could just continue to dominate.
Revenege is best served with some hot shooting.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:34 PM ^
Oh, absolutely. I just like to try to get a sense for how safe is safe, if you know what I mean. :) Teams rarely put two dominant halves of basketball together. I mean -- Michigan's not going to win by 54. :)
November 14th, 2018 at 7:32 PM ^
This just makes me laugh thinking about all the people calling the season after the first two games.
College basketball is fickle, and I bet this game sort of finds a mean in the second half but it's nice to see the team gel more and more every game this year.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:32 PM ^
This is so much fun! Michigan b-ball is a juggernaut.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:33 PM ^
So I just finished up at the plant I am visiting and got to place to watch the second half. Holy shit!
November 14th, 2018 at 7:37 PM ^
This defense is impressive. Did Coach B call in Don Brown to coach them up?
November 14th, 2018 at 7:40 PM ^
Holy shit this is fun - wow!
November 14th, 2018 at 7:41 PM ^
Iggy is da bomb! I love him almost as much as Mo already!
November 14th, 2018 at 7:41 PM ^
Quick hands Z
November 14th, 2018 at 7:43 PM ^
They are so damned aggressive. This team has some serious dog in them.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:44 PM ^
Am I the only one who wants to be really excited about this game then just keeps thinking about the championship game?
November 14th, 2018 at 7:48 PM ^
Yeah, no matter what it still isn't last year.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:45 PM ^
go back to that small ball line up
November 14th, 2018 at 7:46 PM ^
OMG POOLE!!
November 14th, 2018 at 7:47 PM ^
Hope Livers is ok
November 14th, 2018 at 7:47 PM ^
Smart play by Poole to not be the first one to touch the ball but offense in the second half is too much Simpson dribbling
November 14th, 2018 at 7:48 PM ^
If you can't just enjoy a 29-point lead.. C'mon man.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:50 PM ^
I've seen bigger comebacks. I understand the concern. This feel like uncharted territory...unless we're playing MSU @ home.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:51 PM ^
He made a good point! He never said he wasn’t enjoying the ass-whooping they are putting on ‘Nova
November 14th, 2018 at 8:06 PM ^
It's not a one-time thing. Some people find the gray cloud in every silver lining.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:51 PM ^
he's not wrong tho. Don't leave Teske in to the detriment of the team
November 14th, 2018 at 7:48 PM ^
Paschall is a bad match up Teske. Not surprised to see coach go back to the small ball line up
November 14th, 2018 at 7:49 PM ^
That didn’t look good hope Livers is ok
