I think we'll be fine. Optimistically speaking we could have him back for the CFP or bowl game.
I'd be more worried if he we didn't have the all time greatest defense to ever play college football.

Throwing shoulder?
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:23 PM ^
Fuuuuuuuck. I also was confident about him coming in to spell Shea if need be (more than confident if I'm honest). Get healthy kid
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:23 PM ^
Peters averaged around 100 yards a game last year.
Not good, Bob. There’s a reason he’s been passed by McCaffery and Milton.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:25 PM ^
To be fair the OL last year was v different.
November 4th, 2018 at 10:12 AM ^
Also to be fair he only started four of his six games, which pulled down his average, was injured in one of those four starts (also pulling down his average) and there was a game vs. Minny where we simply didn’t need to throw the ball (Higdon and Evans rushed for almost 400 yards combined).
He wasn’t great, but looking at his YPG stats is silly, especially with a small sample size. Shea only averaged 134 YPG games in our wins over Wisky and PSU, which is Peters’ average from his four starts last year.
I’m fairly sure Peters could start for a number of major conference teams. We’re lucky to have him as our third string.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:27 PM ^
Peters came in tonight, not Milton. Obvious redshirt implications are obvious, but worth noting.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:28 PM ^
Who said he was passed by Milton?
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:48 PM ^
Neighbor kid is a practice-teamer and has said Milton is the better leader and already has a great command of the offense and was behind McCaffery in reps all season.
How many times have you seen Peters standing around the QBs on the sidelines and celebrating with the teammates on TV. I counted Milton and McCaffery 2-3 times tonight.
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:03 PM ^
Let me guess...the Neighbor's kid plays Counterstrike also?
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:22 PM ^
So there is only one way to lead? Peters may or may not be a good leader but judging it based on him him celebrating with teammates or not is dumb.
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:09 PM ^
Peters has not been passed by Milton.
November 4th, 2018 at 9:48 AM ^
Hi.
I'm Bob.
Peters is now "Next Man Up" and will redeem himself now that he has an offensive line, strong running game, and an experienced and talented group of receivers.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:25 PM ^
My sources inform me recovery is 4-8 weeks generally, but also depending. From what I saw of contact and impact I expect it is only a fracture rather than a full break and the former time frame would then be more consistent. If Patterson goes down expect it to be Peters & Milton, followed by Milton. Don't forget, Milton has the best arm on the team, and I expect the staff has been working to quickly break him in for this very reason.
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:10 PM ^
Based on what?
November 3rd, 2018 at 11:49 PM ^
Fracture and full break=same thing
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:25 PM ^
This sucks on many different levels. That it happened in the final minutes of a game that was functionally already over makes it even worse.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:55 PM ^
At least it was the backup. Plenty of asshole coaches - looking at most of the B1G East coaches- would have had all the starters still in.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:28 PM ^
I do wonder if that means no runs for Shea against Rutgers or Indiana, unless they need to.
And Peters started a few games last year, so it's not like he has no experience. But he's still not as good as McCaffrey.
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:13 PM ^
Probably not much difference in game plan. I don't think this coaching staff play scared.
November 4th, 2018 at 9:55 AM ^
I would be calling less RPO vs Rutgers and Indiana if it were my call. I would also be looking to get Shea off the field with a game in hand and get some snaps for Milton/Peters.
My guess is there could be playing time for both with their skill sets. I am confident Peters plays a much more efficient game behind this line compared to what we saw last year. I think we have all seen playing QB is not easy running for your life.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:29 PM ^
O goody, we've got all the hand-wringing idiots back just like that...telling Harbaugh how to coach and Dylan how to play the position-incredible.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:29 PM ^
That's definitely a downer but we have avoided big injuries this year for the most part. Hopefully he can come back from the bowl game and Shea doesn't miss any time before then in the next 4 games.
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:30 PM ^
Tarik, Evans, Gary, McCaffrey
November 3rd, 2018 at 11:32 PM ^
First 3 you mentioned are back
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:31 PM ^
Peters or Milton should be functional. If Peters played last year we probably beat OSU. McCaffrey has not shown a ton but for being super athletic. Main deal is, Shea CANNOT get hurt.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:40 PM ^
Fucking so stupidly unlucky.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:48 PM ^
For the handful of people bent out of shape over this, two simple questions: (1) Do we need McCaffrey to beat Rutgers or IU? (2) If Patterson is injured, we're we going to beat OSU or any of the playoffs opponents with McCaffrey that we couldn't beat with Peters or Milton? I'll answer both questions for you: No, and No.
So stop worrying. In the immortal words of Bill Murray in Meatballs, "It just doesn't matter".
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:01 PM ^
1) No. 2) I like having our best players out there because it gives us a better chance against OSU. IMO McCaffrey is better than Peters. 3) Great Movie, but U of M football does matter. To A LOT of people.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:54 PM ^
The news is bad, but: we have competent QBs behind a much improved oline, solid receivers, and running backs. We will not be in the same situation as last year if we had to go to Peters or Milton.
Let's hope Shea remains healthy.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:55 PM ^
I just realized, assuming we dont Fuck it up against Indiana or Rutgers..Our best worst case scenario for Ohio St...is Win and were in Lose it and we probably go to the Rose Bowl....Not bad!!
November 4th, 2018 at 9:58 AM ^
Sorry but going to the Rose Bowl would not be a good thing at this stage.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:55 PM ^
If by week 9 the biggest injury we have to complain about is the back up QB, I’ll take it.
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:02 PM ^
Blow the doors off Buttgers and IU so Peters/Milton get plenty of snaps.
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:06 PM ^
Are you friggin' kidding me? Come on, man. Must have been that hit he put on the PSU defender while running to the end zone. That was some hard contact. I wasn't expecting that to happen. Sucks.
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:38 PM ^
It was probably the zone read run on 1st down on the last drive. When he handed off on the next play his right arm was hanging down and he looked hurt. I wasn't surprised when Peters got rushed on for the 3rd down snap, but I didn't realize it was this bad.
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:08 PM ^
Sucks for DCaf, given his contact courage. But we'll be fine.
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:09 PM ^
We can't afford any QB injuries with the bad luck we have had at that position
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:11 PM ^
Ugh. Get well soon young man.
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:14 PM ^
Significant loss. Bummer.
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:30 PM ^
What ? That sucks. Hope not major break for him.
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:33 PM ^
For god's sake, bubble-wrap Shae until the OSU game.
November 3rd, 2018 at 10:00 PM ^
we'll be OK,
more importantly, get well Dylan. YOU will also be OK. Aaron Rodgers doing just fine.
November 3rd, 2018 at 10:03 PM ^
Awful news about McCaffrey. I feel badly for him, seems like he has tons of potential.
November 3rd, 2018 at 10:03 PM ^
Crappy news on what was otherwise a absolute perfect game by Michigan
November 3rd, 2018 at 10:59 PM ^
Feel bad for Dylan, but should something happen to Shea, I'm 100% ready for The Joe Milton Experience...
November 4th, 2018 at 5:16 PM ^
Same.
November 4th, 2018 at 1:41 AM ^
Keep quarterback runs to a minimum the next 2 weeks. Get Peters in early for the next 2 games to give him some serious work
November 4th, 2018 at 6:18 AM ^
Fuuuuuuuu
November 4th, 2018 at 12:38 PM ^
This could have been avoided. Every play you run, you risk injury. And those plays did not need to be run. They got the ball back, didn't get a first down, and the clock ran out....they could have kneed the game out with 1:59 left.
