JMFH is Back

Submitted by Hard-Baughlls on October 21st, 2018 at 5:31 PM

I was so tired of the Jim Harbaugh can't win the big one narrative...largely based on a small sample size and 2 respectively absurd and unfair events - The punt 6 (MSU 2015) and the robbery in the Shoe (OSU 2016)

Harbaugh should be at worst 3-1 against MSU, and 1-2 vs. OSU at this point...and this doesn't even account for last year's 5 turnover monsoon game against MSU and not having a healthy QB against OSU the past 2 years.

Last year, we saw a more subdued Harbaugh - either because he had a younger team, or was just trying to be a less controversial figure on the sidelines.  FUCK THAT!

I love having JMFH back.  This team has attitude, they talk it, and most importantly walk it.  Coach isn't taking shit from other programs, the media, the refs, or playing the PC bullshit anymore.

This is the JMFH we wanted, that took shitty San Diego State, Stanford, and The 49ers to new heights, and did it his own quirky, tough, in your face way.  It's great having you back coach, and great to see it reflected in your players who won't take shit from anyone.

I think having to roll with one of the worst QBs in Michigan’s history, being totally aware that he sucks, and having to make do probably had more to due with it.

Harbaugh knows football. He has lived it. He saw just like everyone else that last years team was one decent QB away from an 11-1 record. That must be awful to live through as a coach. All the asshole fans were the cherry on top.

Even with the lack of title hardware so far, I think the evidence is building that Harbaugh is restoring the Michigan swagger, for lack of a better description. College football has evolved from the "Big 2, Little 8" days, and it takes an exceptional coach to navigate the higher-competition, higher-scoring field and build a consistent winner.

Harbaugh's putting together that resume. Success against Ohio State is the missing piece, but his teams have been quite competitive and the 2016 game was, frankly, stolen. I'm not normally one to blame the refs for a loss, but the calls in that game combined with the demographics of the crew... that wasn't a good look for the Big Ten. See my join date here as evidence of just how frustrated that game made me. I was a long-time mogblog lurker, but had never posted before.

Anyway, some numbers on our last few coaches. Keep in mind that Harbaugh's are a little skewed because he has four seasons of early non-conference fodder and three seasons of OSU and bowls. But they're still quite encouraging numbers:

I have been concerned by his lack of emotion since the end of the 2016 season. It seemed like he had changed. Maybe he was just sandbagging for this big championship run. I hope the swagger is permanently back now!

From what I saw it was the same subdued Harbaugh on the sideline. San Diego State? Me thinks you might be trolling. Lot of the guys posting "He's back" will probably be the yelling Fire everyone in the game thread  if we lose again this year.

Man, are you right. Harbaugh has a serious edge to him and so does this team. We finally have a team that plays with the toughness and grit that we haven’t seen since Carr was coaching. These guys have a muh fuckin attitude and it is awesome to see that swag once again.

Harbaugh is still very subdued, Dicktonio's pregame antics that backfired brought out the JH comment in the press conference "bush league" because it was bush league.

Dantoni was effective at subduing Hoke and tried it on Harbaugh.   That stunt yesterday was Bush league and media should concur with Harbaugh here.  Bush was an eye for an eye, period.

Surprised to see this morning on SportsCenter (I know, ESPN, puke, but it was early and I wanted to see highlights), they actually called out Dantoni. He said it was, "BS," but they showed the video of him walking behind his players, smiling, just as Harbaugh said.

Props to the S&C staff, because this team is most definitely bigger, stronger, tougher and has just as much speed as last year, if not more.

This S&C staff are indeed the heroes of this season. Props to Harbaugh for identifying where this team was lacking, and making those changes in the offseason. Harbaugh wont get the credit he is due in this regard. Physically it's a night and day difference. Its translating over to a mentality of being confident and never breaking.

Prolly just ran out of his Xanax meds on Saturday.

That is my favorite theory about why Harbaugh was quiet last year.
