So, every snap except that last 4 minutes where they win the game, and the entire first quarter? I think you may be misusing the word "every" here...

Yeah GTFO with that snarky comment - I spent over an hour doing this. Do not comment in a thread I happen to make in the future.

OK, I promise to refrain from commenting on EVERY post you make. EVERY ONE...
October 16th, 2018 at 6:17 PM ^
Just think what might’ve happened if you spent 2 hours on it.

Wow a whole hour, look at you big boy.

I appreciate the work.

Gotta love this place.
Great content and passion like the YouTube video from MGoArchive! And extremely humorous comments like the follow up from Faux Mo.
We are all wound up this week but cmon man that made me giggle!
October 16th, 2018 at 7:21 PM ^
Faux Mo's follow up was funny, but he was just being a jackass in his initial comment. And that's what happens a lot around here. Someone posts content and you have to wade through a slew of irrelevant comments trying to be funny or policing the board before a real discussion starts.

Thanks for doing this. The first link seems to be broken.

MSU offense is giant plinko game when Dantinino hopes that it hits the $10k slot before he runs out of chips.
October 16th, 2018 at 6:38 PM ^
Shut down Lewerke running and put some pressure on him. Cover Davis well and do not allow Jet sweeps. Michigan wins easily.
Hard to do though. But they are capable of doing it! Go blue.
October 16th, 2018 at 7:20 PM ^
To be fair, that’s like saying shut down Higdon, blanket the tight ends underneath, pressure Patterson and don’t allow deep shots to Collins and DPJ. I love your enthusiasm though.
I heard that they are going to get Stewart or white back this week. We will see... Should be a great game!

Easier to pressure Lewerke and cover Davis then it is to stop good rbs, q.b. And two good receivers.
for some reason I am thinking that grant perry is going to have a hell of a game and be the standout.
October 16th, 2018 at 7:36 PM ^
So perry is going to magically appear in our offense after being gone for the last 2 years?
Shea just does not target him really at all, i don't expect him to do much of anything the rest of the year. Which is beyond me, he is probably the best route runner we have.
October 16th, 2018 at 7:40 PM ^
I think it’s going to take some things that Michigan hasn’t showed yet to pull away. Perry would be the perfect plan to let loose now. A lot of slants to him, carve that pass defense up, especially on first downs and 3rd and short situations.
engage!!!

The return of skypanther and his awful hottakes.
October 16th, 2018 at 10:29 PM ^
I don't think that is as hard as it sounds. Michigan used to cover jet sweeps by switching the CB and the safety as the WR ran his jet action. I haven't seen it as much this year.
Put Watson on Davis, although MSU will probably move him around, in which case put Hill or Long on him.
Lewerke is not running much this year, but should he do so I think it will be tough sledding.
I see a five or six sacks coming.

Could staee not be a thing anymore? I mean, really. We're so much better than RCMB talking about Meatchicken and SCum.
October 16th, 2018 at 9:22 PM ^
Sure, if you've got a pic of something else they've epically failed at by mis-spelling their own name during an act of vandalism I'd be happy to use that instead.

It gets old. Particularly when that misspelling occurred back in what, 10 years ago?

Watching the Northwestern video, three things stand out to me about MSU's passing game:
- Most of their successful passes are one of two things: either a downfield route where a receiver settles into a hole in a zone, or an option route where a RB beats an unathletic LB.
- Felton Davis is a big WR with good hands, but struggles to get separation against tight man coverage.
- The MSU OL allows pressure relatively frequently, and when pressured, Lewerke has a tendency to throw up 50-50 balls to his big WRs even if they're covered.
All those tendencies seem to break in Michigan's favor, since we play press man coverage, have athletic LBs, and can pressure the QB. Am I looking at this with rose-colored glasses, or is this a reasonable view?
October 17th, 2018 at 1:19 PM ^
Just finished watching both videos. I'm very unimpressed by the MSU OL. They virtually never gave the RBs a chance to do more other than fall forward for a yard or two. MSU's only productive runs were fly sweeps or Lewerke scrambles.
Speaking of Lewerke, he has excellent pocket presence. But his accuracy isn't great - there were numerous times when he took his receiver off his feet on a short pass and prevented YAC, and he missed a few long balls. And he definitely plays with fire on some of his throws into coverage.
As far as receivers, Felton Davis is good, but not great. He has decent speed, but not a lot of quickness. He's going to get a chance at some 50-50 balls, and he's going to bring some in, but I don't think he'll get significant separation against our corners. It's unclear who else might be a decent receiver for MSU. Cody White is good, but he's out with a broken hand. Darrell Stewart is their next-leading WR, but he missed the PSU game with an ankle issue and he's questionable to play this weekend. Their next-leading receiver after that is Brandon Sowards, and he was terrible vs. PSU - he dropped a number of open passes and doesn't appear to be that big or fast.

I was far more concerned about Wisconsin's offense and look what happened there. Valenti has been ranting for years that the MSU offense is too Neanderthal and predictable, and now it is also one-dimensional. Hard to believe that Don Brown will not have a solid plan for containing them, especially since I believe this game has been circled on the calendar for all the coaches for a long time.
