Chase Winovich debuts on Mel Kiper's big board

Now ranked #24, Chase has a real shot at a first-round selection if he can keep it up. I believe Brian and co. knew from the very start that he was dramatically under-rated as a recruit, but great to see him get the recognition like this. Keep up the good work Chase!

Except he'd have to wear a lions uniform, and, you know, play football for the Detroit Lions.

That's the last time he had a hair cut.

Chase was so underrated that he would’ve been a high draft pick last year.

Here comes "that guy"......
I think it'll be a little tough for him to ultimately make it into the first round, mostly because when teams spend a first round pick on a DE, they're looking for someone with the "prototypical" size and speed. Winovich, for as many things as he brings to the table, doesn't have that "prototype" size and speed that NFL teams covet with their DEs. That's unfortunately not anything he can control, and I don't mean it as a knock on him. But he is not built like Rashan Gary, a prospect that NFL teams look at and say "THIS is how our ideal DE is built."
That is NOT to say he couldn't work his way into the first round. I'd love to see him make it there, I'm rooting for him to do so, and I think he's got a chance to be a great player in the league. He's ferocious, has a never-ending motor, knows how to get to the QB, rips the hearts of his victims out and eats them to gain their strength, and much more. But some teams would rather use their first round pick on taking a chance on a guy who may be more raw at the position than Chase is, but has the athletic upside that he doesn't have.
But anything can happen, and if he keeps up this level of production, he may leave some teams saying that they don't care if he isn't built like a Bosa or a Clowney. If you can get to the QB, you can get to the QB.

Winovich will be an All American this season, and he will go in the first round. He is similar to Jake Ryan, who had a great career prior to injury, and scouts will take notice of this...

Winovich is an elite pass rusher. How many better have you seen this year? That alone may get someone to spend a first round pick on him. Second round at worst if he keep playing this way against better competition.

Harbaugh and Co really need to make something of this season with all this NFL talent they have on defense.
2016's defense has 11 players in the NFL right now. Wormley, Glasgow, Hurst, Charlton, Gedeon, Lewis, Stribling, Clark, Peppers, Thomas, and Hill
This years defense is about to have 3 1st rounders in Gary, Bush, and Winovich. Watson, Long, and Hill will also have the opportunity to be drafted
We gotta achieve something with all this talent we have

Is Rashan anywhere on Mel's list?

Hard work pays off in the end. This guy takes 0 plays off and I love watching him play.
There is a saying, I'm sure most of you have heard.... something about those who stay. I'm just glad scouts are noticing the work this guy puts in every Saturday.
