What is wrong with this entire program?
We have been laying eggs for literally decades in big games. MSU gets better results than us with lower rated recruits. So does Wisconsin.
I'm on a small vacation right now, and I wonder why I've wasted the last few hours watching this. I used to be the biggest Michigan fan anyone knew as a kid, but I'm now 24 as of 3 days ago, and I haven't seen us do shit since I was 10. Even that year we lost to a 6-4 OSU and Notre Dame coached by Charlie Weis.
I've been texting back and forth with my uncle who has had season tickets since the 70s, he says this is the last year for tickets and I don't really blame him. This stuff is too predictable and I don't get that many free Saturday's anymore with my job.
We hired the hottest coach in football in 2014...Why is it no matter who coaches here they can't get results? I just don't get it. Nobody on our team has looked hyped to play, just like MSU last year. Is it mentality? They expect to just waltz in and win without preparing?

Culture of the program is that it's "okay" to lose.
Go tell that to Bama or OSU. It's national news when they drop a game.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:31 PM ^
The team is soft and most of the players who come to Michigan are soft
September 1st, 2018 at 10:32 PM ^
I have been telling people for years the program is cursed and no one will listen. Glad I finally gave up my season tickets.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:34 PM ^
The OL is terrible. The LT especially so.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:37 PM ^
Honestly, I'm done with waiting until next year.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:37 PM ^
Prepare your anus for any average team on the schedule.
Maryland gonna kill us.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:45 PM ^
Maryland is gonna kill us.
Too soon?
September 1st, 2018 at 10:47 PM ^
Seriously this might get ugly. Our schedule is brutal.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:39 PM ^
A road game. Against a top 15 team. At night. I'm honestly shocked anyone thought Michigan would win. Harbaugh will actually be gone in a year or two. It's a basketball school now.

Mineral King, fuck you!!
September 1st, 2018 at 10:43 PM ^
Arrogance. People shit on MSU on this board all the time, but look at them. They walk around with a huge chip on their shoulder 24/7 and it takes next to nothing to get them even more pissed off. Like them, hate them, hate me, but you can’t argue that they are not soft, especially comes to rivalry and big games. Michigan caves at the sight of any big game and in my opinion it’s been perpetrated by the former coach walking around saying “this is Michigan blah blah blah” and the current coach, who took over a program that’s won nothing recently (and nothing himself at the collegiate level) telling everyone “who’s got it better than us!” Well Jim, everyone does right now and you like a higher paid version of Hoke with a bigger mouth.
September 2nd, 2018 at 9:02 AM ^
This right here. Plus it's bad enough people trying to sugar coat everything to make it seem like Michigan had a chance in that game. When Michigan gives up the "We're Michigan fergodsakes" and accepts they're a middle of the pack big ten team for the better part of 3 decades, they would hopefully play better when something doesn't go their way.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:43 PM ^
It doesn't help that ND played really well offensively to start the game. Since those first two drives, Michigan has been pretty solid on defense save for a couple of mistakes. But the offensive line still can't block on the pass to save their lives and for whatever reason Michigan doesn't have a viable way to compensate for it.
The only saving grace I see is that they'll have a couple of weeks to hammer away at the edges and see if they can piece together something offensively.

Accurate assessment
September 1st, 2018 at 11:28 PM ^
One TD was extended because of the roughing the passer call on Winovich.
One TD was honestly a prayer throw (not that you shouldn't do those from time to time).
Obviously second-order effects apply, but the defense really wasn't the problem.
The problem with a blitz heavy defense is it leaves you exposed and gassed.
It's like swinging for the fences every time. I've got to believe Don Brown is aware of this, and I guess it's better to get exposed earlier rather than later in the season.
I would like to see the defensive statistics when controlling for the lower-tier teams.
Also the cramps stuff is completely inexcusable, it was 80-ish degrees and 77% humidity, that's hot and humid of course, but a) it's not that hot, and b) it's 2018, the hydration and deyhdration rates are well-established and the conditioning and performance coaches should be way more on top of that.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:43 PM ^
We need to join the arms race and start paying the players.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:44 PM ^
Harbaugh not re recruiting offensive lineman last year is a problem
September 1st, 2018 at 10:44 PM ^
We aren’t good. No fundamentals. No discipline. No fire. No passion. No unity. Jim might make it one more year but he’s done here and both parties will be happy about it.
September 1st, 2018 at 11:41 PM ^
Could be for the best. The sentiment around OSU fan sites seems to be "hope harbs stays there for 20 years". You know when those assholes are rooting for something, it's not good for us.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:44 PM ^
I love Michigan, but I just can’t continue to let this program ruin my Saturdays.
I am going to watch, but walk away and go enjoy my day when I see the same shit over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over.
Offense looks better with Dylan at QB however.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:45 PM ^
I think a lot of the problem is hype.
After last years feast of offseason bullshit from the submarine (and the staff here) I vowed to never be sucked in again unless I saw results on the field.
Tonight, a scary thought occurred to me.
Maybe the bulllshit and hype don’t just affect the fans and media.
Maybe all the bullshit about the OL being fixed fools the OL players into thinking it’s fixed.
Maybe the bullshit is actually destructive on the field because players think they are better than they are.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:45 PM ^
Pretty simple really.
Harbaugh seems a shell of himself from year 1.
The OL is just trash.
NO playmakers on offense. NONE.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:45 PM ^
We don't pay kids and can't plug holes with JUCO's.
That's it.

September 1st, 2018 at 10:46 PM ^
We are trash. But at least we have harbaugh. Otherwise we would be losing by a whole seven more points. We play basketball now. It’s clear.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:46 PM ^
BTW - Braylon Edwards is whining and calling out players again on Twitter, reminding us all that no matter how good you were on the football field, you can be a total asshole off it.

Harbaugh
September 1st, 2018 at 10:47 PM ^
We used to complain about 4 yards and a cloud of dust. At least Bo got 3 3 yards a play. This is embarrassing
September 1st, 2018 at 11:04 PM ^
Gotta luv our 5 star garbage QB. Go with Milton
September 1st, 2018 at 11:55 PM ^
Thanks for your caustic and inaccurate insights.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:47 PM ^
It's too early to know much. How good is ND? Ohio State looked terrible on defense today. Penn State and little brother looked bad too. We can still get the Big 10.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:58 PM ^
Come on. Notre Dame is clearly nothing special. This is 2017 Michigan all over again. Clear as day.
September 2nd, 2018 at 12:48 AM ^
meaning we are going to lose by playing our 3rd string QB?
September 2nd, 2018 at 12:13 AM ^
77-31 is seeming like good defense to me after what I just saw.
September 2nd, 2018 at 1:27 AM ^
That same "little brother" that has won 8 out of the last 10 games against Michigan?
September 1st, 2018 at 10:47 PM ^

Higdon blew that block the int. I can't believe it. Did that last year. Nothing changes. PUT FUCKING MASON THERE TO BLOCK
September 1st, 2018 at 10:48 PM ^
Higdon needs to be benched after that half assed chip that left to the int. He did the same effing thing last year.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:48 PM ^
I really thought, despite being a pessimist, that this year was the year we would be in contention for the playoffs. Tonight was the first time I didn’t even watch the whole game. That 7-5 prediction by Sharpe & Parker doesn’t look so.crazy now
September 1st, 2018 at 11:01 PM ^
Same. I changed the channel 30 mins ago. My pulse is almost back to normal.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:48 PM ^
Arrogance, pure and simple. The football team hasn't won anything of consequence in over 20 years yet it and its fans act superior to everyone else.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:52 PM ^
Higdon needs to be benched for Evans
JBB for Hudson
Brown needs to rush less and not have the D overpursue with a running QB like this.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:54 PM ^
There are no points for second place...but until the university feels economic pain...there is no incentive to change...Michigan is a well funded program...fan willingness to buy merchandise and attend games in spite of not fielding a competitive team will perpetuate mediocrity.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:58 PM ^
This puts to bed all the excuses that Harbaugh just needs a good QB to cure their offensive woes. Either Pep or Harbaugh don’t know how to coach college football.
September 2nd, 2018 at 12:02 AM ^
Exactly with this. I think there’s a bevy of people in the AD from the old guard with Lloyd and before that need to go. Guys like Falk, Ablauf, etc.. People keep trying to live in the past at the expense of the future. They think that because we’re Michigan that we are inherently better than everyone else. I see that sentiment in this fan base quite a bit and it always makes me cringe. At this point who gives a shit about most wins of all time?
The arrogance leads to hype which is fed to us by our homer local media. The coaches tell them that everything is sunshine and daisies and the players eat that shit up. How many times did we have an article with quotes from the OL claiming they will be better? That is so fucking laughable.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:48 PM ^
Can we just pay Saban $15M a year to come bail us out?
September 1st, 2018 at 10:49 PM ^
I don’t know, but I am quickly losing interest.
September 1st, 2018 at 10:50 PM ^
I've said it a million times. MSU plays with the annoying chip on their shoulder mentality, but it works. We dont. We never do. We lean on yesteryear. There's always crazy hype followed by the same 8-4 Outback Bowl seasons. We have a culture problem. Michigan football died the day Bo died and Crable had the late hit in the game. Harbaugh only emphasizes yesteryear. We chased out RichRod. We hired Hoke to get a michigan man and now harbaugh with the same culture that wont work. Idk how deep it goes, but Its getting tough to watch. At least we have basketball. The culture is focused on development, learning, improvement, with a consistent scheme and mentality.
September 2nd, 2018 at 12:27 AM ^
At some point, we have to let go of the past. Bo ball doesn’t work anymore.. The fact that Urban Meyer has more NC than the last 6 Michigan coaches combined is disheartening. We are too wrapped up in tradition and the past success (or lack of).
