Starting to feel like fall and football in A2

Submitted by Blueverine on

Just got back from a run through the athletic campus. The frat boys are practicing softball and football on their lawns. The band has been practicing all afternoon on their field. Those familiar sounds and tunes are a real teaser for Saturday.

And finally, stopped on the bridge to watch a few plays in the scrimmage. While I was standing there, a maize and blue golf cart with two guys pulled up behind me and politely told me it was a closed scrimmage. I had stopped on the bridge earlier this week to watch a bit and nothing happened, but clearly today's scrimmage is different (as relayed by UMBig11). Hell, you can barely make things out from that distance, but I did see McCaffrey running a little RPO for three plays. Maybe someone more learned than I could pull some good intel out of it. But I get it. If those guys let me stay, it would have been their asses.

Still, it's beginning to feel a lot like our favorite season in Ann Arbor.

Maybe you can ride back over the bridge 1 more time and catch a few more plays.  When the golf cart guys come back, just pull an Urban Meyer and claim you forgot that they said you couldn't be there.  It might also be a good idea to throw in that you don't remember your name and have no idea where you are.

I've heard about guys doing this in the past, stopping people from watching on the bridge. While I obviously don't want our plays getting spied on, I wonder how they can legitimately stop people from standing on a public bridge to watch? That bridge isn't UM property, is it??

I too watched a little bit of practice from the bridge......

Team looks sharp as hell. I saw some very crisp pinpoint passes out of all the QBs. After watching the Notre Dame video earlier today, it almost made me giggle how much better our QBs look right now. This team is definitely going to win by 21+ on 9/1.

There's a special feeling around the team right now in Ann Arbor. Like an inside joke that everyone is in on and nobody else knows about. Just getting ready to unleash onto these poor unsuspecting teams this year. Hold em down, pull your pants down and give them the Arabian Goggles. Nuts and taint all over their face. Then you pull your pants back up and walk away like nothing happened. Boss mode.

Also, that bridge is owned by the City of Ann Arbor, so the UofM AD has absolutely no authority to tell you to leave. They really should put some type of barrier up if they don't want people watching.

From a legal perspective there’s no way they can force you to leave. I’m not saying you should be a dick, just that if you want to stand there and watch, they can’t force you to leave public property. (Obviously this assumes it’s public property)

Yeah, I guess if I wanted to press it you'd be right. But I've had some viewing time there previously and this is the big last scrimmage, so I just continued my run. Those guys were polite and just said it was a closed practice, but maybe next year I'll question them on public vs. private bridge grounds.

It's feeling a bit like fall about 20 miles east of Ann Arbor too....the few hours of wind that we had finally blew the rest of the leaves off the crab apple tree out front. Granted, that tree is dying, but that's something that fall would do.

I went down by the gates towards the end of the scrimmage and stood outside of them far away enough to not be noticed. I saw some very VERY interesting things. I even snuck in a picture.

I saw quite a few RPOs. One of them looked like a play we ran with Denard a lot. There was a receiver wearing a red jersey for some reason.

All the players were cheering at the end of practice. Probably because camp is pretty much broken as tomorrow is gonna be an easier day for them and then it's on to game week.
