Don Brown & Jay Harbaugh are impressed with Shea Patterson

Submitted by wildbackdunesman on

Of course Don Brown would only say positive things even if he had a negative opinion, but Don Brown said he has been impressed with Shea Patterson.  Brown notes that Shea is a very gifted athlete and has earned everyone's respect with how he handles himself and takes his role seriously.  Brown implied that we need to let Patterson play to his talents and ability; "let him player."

Jay Harbaugh says that Patterson has improved a lot since the spring in terms of knowing our formations and plays.

I think the only telling thing, and it's not really a surprise, is that Brown (I didn't see/hear Jay's comment, so I can't speak to its context) didn't make a point to start elaborating on the strengths of Peters or McCaffrey as well. What he said wasn't notable, but it sounds like he was answering a question about the starting QB.

Yes, and no. He praised him for his work on the scout team, but he never said 1 positive thing about any of our starters. No Wilton is looking good, or John has shown great leadership, or Brandon has a ton of swag? To me this speaks volumes. Maybe someone specifically asked about Shea, but he still went out of his way, with praise. Alright, I need a drink to calm my nerves.

Someday, I want a coach to come out and say: "Yeah, that savior quarterback you were all hoping brings us 11 wins and fame a glory? Turns out, after the first few practices, I decided he sucks. We're all fucked."

I mean, I suppose that's literally the least we could expect, but it's something. "Now he knows the Michigan playbook, whereas before he saw the Michigan playbook, he didn't know it."
