Also contributing to lack of activity is:
1. The difficulty logging in ("Too many failed attempts" error).
2. Some people are still seeing the '90s version of the site because they haven't cleared cache. At least as of a couple days ago I know people that were still asking when the site would come up.
I've know, for example, I've misspelled "simultainously" cause it has a red line under it. But i'll be damned if the site will tell me how to fix it.
That's just mean IMO.
I don't mean to take pleasure in your misery but damn if that did not make me laugh out loud. I'm sorry.
BTW, it's simultaneously. For some reason I am able to spell quite well but cannot recall where I placed something 15 seconds prior.
I just really hate the interface, can't figure out where anything is, don't think any of it is particularly functional, can't figure out how to replicate much of the everyday tasks from the old site, and simply can't prioritize spending the time it seems would be required to learn how to do it.
Maybe this is good, as I'll spend less time on MGoBlog, but this whole redesign seems like such an unforced error. There had to have been a better way of designing this thing.
Hit the source button and the spell check function will work.
On the other hand, did you read the threads/posts of the past few months -- since the end of bball season anyway? I'm beginning to think this is exactly what they wanted, and they knew exactly what they were doing . . .
I'm glad someone posted about the App again because I would actually like to see a new app designed and implemented for this reason:
While the site is "optimized" for mobile viewing, it still doesn't replace the functionality that an app can provide. One of the best things about the old app was that you could view multiple titles of headlines on the main page without having to scroll down pages of the Mgoblog site. Sure, the new articles are condensed on the main page with the "read more" button but (I just counted) and it took 7 finger flicks of scrolling on my phone just to get to the 3rd article on the page. If the "unverified voracity" article is 3-4 posts down, you now have to scroll through to find if it even exists. On the old app, you could just see the last 8-10 titles and click on the ones you wanted to read; no scrolling through involved.
The same thing applies for the forum. It's a little less of a problem because the mobile site just condenses it to titles but you still have to load the main page, click the menu, find forums and then scroll down.
To be honest, my viewing on mobile devices has gone significantly down because of it.
agree 100%.
Oh God. Really. Y'all fucked this site up, mang.
Testing
Bring. Back. The. App. I guarantee the page views will be going down without an App. The mobile site experience on google chrome on a iphone is terrible. I used to check mgoblog via the app about once every two hours. I don't do it on my mobile browser.
I will pay for an App. Will someone create it please. Dying over here.
I wrote to Brian about this a couple weeks ago. I haven't heard back yet, but hopeful. It's something I could do, but obviously only with Brian and others' blessing.
I'm speculating, but I would guess the concern with the app is that it would negatively impact web traffic too much which important for various reasons. It's also one more thing to oversee and give guidance to which is significant given their existing workload and managing a major web migration. Let's be patient..
Last time Brian was asked about an iphone app his response was, "I use Android"
Maybe it’s a good thing for my work performance but I will be here less often until an App is installed . The layout for this board on mobile is terrible
I am old and technologically challenged. I know someone said there is a way to put the new site on the front page of one's phone, but I can't figure it out. Could some nice smart person give me simple directions? Thanks.
If you've got an iPhone you can open the page in Safari. Then you tap on the box icon with an arrow that's right in the middle of the bottom of your screen. Then where it says "copy," "print" etc. scroll to the right until you find "Add to Home Screen" and select that.
Thank you very much.
I'm trying to come up with a proper description for the mobile site. "Mobile optimized" clearly isn't it. It's more mobile-hostile than "mobile friendly".
Perhaps "just barely tolerable on mobile" is as descriptive as it's going to get.
95% of my site visits were via the app. Would love to have it back in some form.

Would be quite convenient to use an app, I agree. These days smartphone is what you always have near you so being able to use a service as an app is a convenient experience.

I have troubles with the app too. Actually, my smartphone is pretty laggy and I should definitely change it. By the way, talking about apps, not long ago I bumped into this site https://cell-phone-spy-software.net/. It's about spy software for cell phones. Do you think it's a good thing to install it on children's phones?

Well, still there are so many issues then maybe yeah, it's going to be a part of the past, unfortunately. It's bad when apps aren't being updated and that's why I quitted using it. Nowadays the app I use most frequently is one of the spy apps. You can read about them here http://smstrackers.com/are-you-looking-for-an-app-to-have-access-to-text-messages-of-your-husband/ . Also I watch YouTube and twitch sometimes.
