I think we should be down more than we are. Let's start the half off with a run and then widdle it from there.

Don't know what's up with Morgan. He's slow on everything today. His hedges are half-hearted and his recoveries are lead-footed and late. He could easily have another 3 fouls on his sloppy hip checks as Wisconsin drives by him at will.
Totally out of character and why we've seen Morgan on the bench more than usual, I'm sure.
February 16th, 2014 at 1:57 PM ^
I noticed that earlier. It looks like he's moving in mud.

He wouldn't start on this team if it weren't for injury. What's your point?
I'm the biggest defender of Morgan because people see him miss a "gimme" on offense and don't understand why Beilein has him out there. He's out there for his defense and particularly his ability to hedge and recover. That ability can stifle teams that run the pick and roll well. It's Morgan's strength and even when he's struggling on the boards or on the offensive end, that's what you can usually rely on him for.
However, not today which is totally out of character.

Our offense looks about as good as Illinois did yesterday. Dribbling around just sort of waiting for something to open up. Have to attack. 19 points from this group is underperforming no matter how good you think Wisconsin's defense is (and it hasn't been particularly good this season, either.)

Haven't been able to see much of this fortunately. From what I have seen, it appears the refs are allowing a physical game which is definitely not our strong point.

really hasn't found an answer for the defensive strategy being employed against stauskas. and stauskas has not found a way to counteract this defensive strategy.
without stauskas, this offense is not sustainable.
and without a solid offensive performance, our inherent defensive ability is terrible.

Nuss is in attendance, someone tell him to go to the locker room to help

absolutely brutal that first half. 4 pts and 3 reb - combined. their counterparts: brust, kaminski and dekker - 27/19. pathetic.

That's good... right?

Let's not let Stauskas and Irvin off the hook. GR3 has all 4 of those points - the same as Stauskas. Stauskas is just 2/6 with 2 turnovers. We need him to turn it around first - if he can, the rest will follow.

I believe we can still win this game.
I've been called crazy lots of times in my life.
Not sure if these things coincide
February 16th, 2014 at 2:01 PM ^
Irvin's lack of offensive production was another huge blow for us. He plays worse D than GR3 or Levert, but when he's draining 3's that's an acceptable trade-off. Not so much today.

The four factors stuff, in case you wanted to know:

Also, no assists and a 0.71 PPP.
Wisconsin eFG% - 48.39%
Wisconsin OREB% - 42.11%
Wisconsin free throw rate - 25.81%
Wisconsin turnover % - 2.82%
Also, 4 assists and a 1.25 PPP.

You know how sometimes you watch a game and then see some stats and you're all like, "whoa, I didn't realize that from just watching?" This is not one of those times. Nice to get the confirmation of how bad that half was haha

Games can turn quickly, but that might be the worst half of UM hoops in years. They trail Wiscy 34-19 and have 0 assists, 0 blocks, 0 steals

summed it up pretty well.
February 16th, 2014 at 2:05 PM ^
pulled down 6 rebounds (4 on defense) in his 7 minutes. the rest of the team grabbed 7 defensive rebounds that entire first half. morgan and gr3 have ZERO defensive rebounds today. complete joke of an effort.
February 16th, 2014 at 2:10 PM ^
Is it just me or does it seem like pretty much every rebound has been right to a wisconsin player? I understand that there's some strategy and technique to rebounding, but it just feels a lot like luck. Or, if you're Dan Dakich, the ball just knows it wants to go to a wisconsin player

we are definitely playing toward the easy basket this half.
February 16th, 2014 at 2:09 PM ^
Morganis playing so badly today
February 16th, 2014 at 2:10 PM ^
Why? How the hell is that GR3 shot even part of the offense right now?
February 16th, 2014 at 2:10 PM ^
We need to tighten up on D. Even if we get the offense going we can't give up easy hoops an tons of offenstive rebounds.

how was that not an offensive foul on jackson. He ran over morgan
February 16th, 2014 at 2:11 PM ^
fast break.

Big three

CARIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
February 16th, 2014 at 2:10 PM ^
Come on guys. Keep it up.
February 16th, 2014 at 2:11 PM ^
At least they are bringing the energy this half.
February 16th, 2014 at 2:11 PM ^
And then Morgan just stands there and watches the long rebound instead of getting it
February 16th, 2014 at 2:12 PM ^
Call a fucking foul on these drives jesus
February 16th, 2014 at 2:12 PM ^
They finally call the bump on Morgan
February 16th, 2014 at 2:12 PM ^
Wish we would have come out with this kind of intensity in the first half.
February 16th, 2014 at 2:14 PM ^
February 16th, 2014 at 2:12 PM ^
why did we suddenly get really bad at passing the ball? it feels like every other pass is a turnover
February 16th, 2014 at 2:13 PM ^
I hate this Kaminski guy
February 16th, 2014 at 2:13 PM ^
February 16th, 2014 at 2:18 PM ^
Yeah, so far he's been...inconsistent, to put it nicely. But he plays better defense than Irvin, so there's that, at least? It's not like there's a significantly better option right now
