with a new OC there are probably going to be a bunch of new plays and formations. Missing spring and probably fall camp is going to put Jake behind in terms of learning the new offense on the field.

This would happen to us. Again. At least its basketball season.

I believe there was a thread about this and I don't know if it's already been mentioned here but there was a NYT article about Stanford adopting a conditioning program that focuses on flexibility and balance...

9 ACL tears in basically 2 years is absurd. And anyone who attributes it to just bad luck is deluding themselves.

9 in two years? I didn't realize it was that many.

FWIW, I saw Jake Butt walking up the stairs and out of Mojo today. He had crutches, but he was walking up the stairs pretty much without them. This means it's not a very severe ACL tear right? right? right?
p.s. I have no medical knowledge whatsoever, so if someone could enlighten me that would be great.
February 13th, 2014 at 1:10 PM ^
You actually don't even need your ACLs to get around in day-to-day life. Your ACLs are required for quick, lateral movements - a common event in the sports world, but not if you're just walking around. Older people with ACL tears quite often don't even get surgery.

Michigan Injuries and Mike Barwis For the life of me, I don't know why all those pro athletes train with Barwis. You fellows should run right over there and warn them, right after you get rid of the current staff.
No, no, we have never been down this path before.

is that that thread was complaining about a handful of various dings and sprains, while this one is talking about 9 ACL tears in 2 years...

ESPN mentioned that Nuss offered Ferns as a TE at Bama. I dk what his weight is, but that might be a decent back up plan. http://espn.go.com/blog/bigten/post/_/id/95870/what-will-michigan-do-without-jake-butt

Half a knee, philosophically,
Must, ipso facto, half not be.
But half the knee has got to be
Vis a vis, its entity. D'you see?
But can a knee be said to be
Or not to be an entire knee
When half the knee is not a knee
Due to some recent injury?
Singing...
La dee dee, one two three,
Jake Butt has half a knee.
A B C D E F G,
Jake Butt has half a knee.
I love this sophomore TE,
Injured accidentally,
While working out in February,
I love him carnally.
He loves him carnally,
Semi-carnally.
The end.
Russell Bellomy?
No; semi-carnally!
Oh.
Russell Bellomy. . .

This can't possibly be just a concidence. It's either conditioning, the turf, or shoes. One of those has to be the problem.
February 13th, 2014 at 5:44 PM ^
Since Nuss came on board we are averaging almost 1 ACL tear a month!

Here's hoping for a quick recovery to be back stronger than ever.
