Any life-threatening injuries that caused bad shooting? Any vicious tables or basketball courts that jumped up and injured his players' wrists? Erazem Lorbek's departure?

people can bash nik
People do it on this site, unfortunately.

You wont find many (any?) places on the internet more critical of Nik than this site whenever his name and the phrase "NBA Draft" are used in the same sentence. This includes MSU and Ohio sites. Same thing goes for all past, present and future M players.

The fact that Izzo gets slobbered on by this board is disgusting. He's such an arrogant jerk.

I don't think that happened.

If this has been raised before then I apologize, but do you think this level of parity should hurt perceptions of the B1G, or should it get the Ass Ayy Say treatment?

Tonight's low in La Paz, Bolivia is 41 degrees with a chance of rain. The high tomorrow is expected to be 53 with showers.

I'm not convinced.
We both play @Purdue and @OSU, we'll say those cancel out. That leaves, in approximate order of difficulty, the remaining games:
Mich: MSU, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana, @Illinois
MSU: @Michigan, Iowa, Nebraska, Northwestern, Illinois
I think they're more comparable than you would think at first glance. Perhaps a slight edge in easiness to MSU, but I think it has been overstated by many (including myself, it turns out, after performing this exercise).

Come on, Nebraska. Time to finally learn to win on the road!
February 9th, 2014 at 3:29 PM ^
They already learned it yesterday at NW, hopefully now they know how to perfect it and won't lose another road game!
February 9th, 2014 at 3:42 PM ^
Northwestern might be a better bet - they've already won at Wisconsin and Minnesota. I also would not rule out Iowa and Ohio getting payback for their OT losses to MSU earlier this year.
In any event, I think we'll take them down in Crisler. With a non-homer whistle, the game in EL would have been a comfortable win. Their handchecking will be called in Crisler.

When Wisconsin made the last shot, they stopped the clock at 2.1 seconds for a little while. Isn't the clock supposed to keep running or is there a different rule at the end of games? Sparty didn't have a time out and the stoppage gave them time to get off a shot.
February 9th, 2014 at 3:48 PM ^
The clock stops under a minute in the second half with a made shot. In the first half it would have continued to run with a made shot. But not in the second half.

I'm still discouraged by the way that we got abused by Iowa, and can't help but think how nice it would be to be a game up on Sparty (and one more over Iowa). Gotta win the next one.

Great they lost, but there was no Appling or Dawson.

And a very tired (but effective) Payne. Also, Gary Harris didn't seem to show up at all. I guess we aren't the only team to have superstars with off nights.
February 9th, 2014 at 3:41 PM ^
Harris was terrible, and I'm not sure what's great about the guy anyway. I think Payne will get going again shortly.
February 9th, 2014 at 3:52 PM ^
Dawson's probably not going to be back until March, so talking about them missing him is like talking about us missing McGary.
February 9th, 2014 at 8:44 PM ^
I'm sorry . . . does MSU get some sort of waiver in the standings because it didn't have a full roster when it lost? If not, tough luck. We've played the entire Big Ten season without our starting center. That's life.
February 9th, 2014 at 4:06 PM ^
Nice to be back in a tie for first, but if we play like we did at Iowa, it's not going to matter for long.
February 9th, 2014 at 4:39 PM ^
True but if we play like we did exactly one game earlier against Nebraska it absolutely will. I'm not sure why some of the board is so sure the sky is falling - it's one loss against a pretty good team, playing at home, that desparately needed a win. Game got out of control early and that was that. But it's still only one game.
I like our chances in all our remaining games.
February 9th, 2014 at 5:18 PM ^
Actually, it's two games. The reason the board is so down is now it's become a trend. Get a semi-good team against us, and they have the game plan to beat us. Indiana and Iowa flat-out beat us in the same way.
The sky is falling because any team that can defend Stauskas can beat us, and we seem to not have an answer for it. Our transition defense was awful for both losses, and that is why Yogi and Marble went off on us from 3. We know how they're beating us, and we can't adjust for it. This is indeed scary.
All that said, I tend to agree with you. I think they'll be fine, and I like our chances as well.

Presumably that's because the team has had 1 or fewer practices since the game yesterday. Calling it a trend through two games is, in my opinion, absolutely ridiculous. If it continues through Tuesday at OSU then I will concede. I think Iowa was playing desperately because of their losses to MSU and OSU, and they're a talented enough team that they're probably not going to drop that home game against Michigan. Would I have liked it to go better? Absolutely.
Also, the IU game was within 3-4 points most of the second half, it was not anything like the game yesterday.
This also discounts a ridiculously efficient game against Nebraska, regardless of the level of that team a 41 point lead in the second half is impressive.
Hopefully JB and Co. will come out with a response against OSU if Thad Matta tries the same plan, having seen it twice now.
