OT: At least we aren't Florida Appreciation Thread

Submitted by Fhshockey112002 on

Florida has lost 26-20 to Georgia Southern (7-4 4-4Southern Conf.).  Florida has now lost 6 straight and have #3 Florida State left to play.

Will Muschamp's Gators haven't scored over 20 points since scoring 28 vs Kentucky on September 28th.  I guess it always could be worse.

This is GMatts last stop. Let's pretend Hoke doesn't make moves on offense, keeps all of Borges, funk and Jackson around (I use them as all are either not doing their job to standard or could and probably should retire but might hang on as long as allowed). He does this and I think wet can all agree he loses his dream job next year. Not a pessimist but he went see a 5th year looking anything like this next year. Anyway, he keeps them, we look the same, he is fired. Mattison, imo, stays with the new hire (if wanted and the new hire isn't insane) or he takes a job NOT following Hoke as he may have to drop down to DC at a 2nd tier program or positron coach at a major one. If he got a HC gig it would be MAC level and mid MAC level. Mattison won't follow, imo. I think he is here until his career is over. He says he feels young so let's hope this ship is righted under Hoke or the new guy is, say, friends or not stupid. Basically, Hoke gets fired and I could easily see him retiring.

I'm exchanging texts with a buddy who's a big Florida fan.  He's just besides himself with anger over being bad, and for losing to Georgia Southern.  I offered him Borges for Muschamp.  He said he'd take my cat for Muschamp.  My cat is a worthless cat.  That's how bad it is there.

We'ld prolly lose to Georgia Southern too if we had to play our 3rd-4th string QB. At least Florida can blame injuries for this seasons crap fest.

I would take 2 national championships in the past decade in return for a 4-8 season this year or whatever UF is headed for.  Rather than a decade of mediocre and our own 3-9 and 5-7 seasons.

Look this is the type of thread MSU fans have been starting for decades.  "Hey it could be worse... we have John L Smith but they have ..."

This is what the fan base has been reduced to - trying to wallow in other people's mess and comparing it on a relative basis to ours.  Sad.

who gives a crap about precisely how many holes can be poked in Arizona's record?

Why is this comparison relevant?

We stink and that's the only relevant data.

Besides, we were and will always be the signature FBS victims - no one's defeat to one of those programs will match the nationwide shock of what happened in the Appy St. game.

I initially thought this, too, but they can at least blame their season on injuries to key players. And they've had a LOT of injuries.

They also have 2 recent national championships, a boatload of NFL talent on their roster, their backyard is one of the most talent-rich states in America, and incoming recruiting classes that will put them back up at the top within the next year or two.

You're right. We're not Florida. Unfortunately. Today they lost to an FCS team. Yes, that sucks. But I'd rather be in their position right now than ours.

Difference is there is a strong likelihood that Florida's AD will make a change because of this. Florida will always have a recruiting advantage over UM and will be able to move on without too much pain.

I have no hope Brandon or Hoke are willing to take action or even cognizant of what needs to change.

My wife reminded me about our Appy State loss when I read this title.  On the bright side of things, we did beat Florida and Heisman winning Friar Tebow that year.  At least there was some redemtion for us.  This game was truly the only thing making me happy about our loss today (Yes, I live in Gainesville).

Muschamp is a big fan of Hoke (he HATES Meyer and generally does things the right way with only a small issue with anger) so, if canned, we have a guy to their attacks of cash at to replace a few guys and hire a proper QB coach, etc.

Florida is a better program than Michigan right now. Florida has been a better program than Michigan for the past decade. Muschamp will be fired after this year because Dave Brandon is not his AD and the Florida AD actually cares about his school.
