U-M grad Nina Davuluri wins Miss America

reminiscent of the Marc Anthony reactions after he sang at the MLB All Star Game. I wonder if there is any overlap in the idiotic commenters.
Hopefully, the public shaming tumblr for the Miss America reactions gets similar publicity.

Two and a half Asians in the final group too. How awesome is that?

Lovin' the flava!

First, congrats to Nina. Way to represent both UM and the NY area.
Second, dear gawd people are racist in the comment thread on the site. Apparently "Miss USA" can only be a white girl from Ohio, because otherwise they're taking yer jerbs (no politics).
Third, I know the story here is that UM doesn't have hot women, and maybe its because I met my wife at UM, but I think people confuse hot college girls with hot women. I've met a number of UM grads while here in NYC, and as the women age they continue to look good in ways that, frankly, you don't always see with the "hot" girls from other schools. It takes commitment and intelligence to eat right, work out, and take care of yourself. And while looking great at 20 has its merits, as a guy who is happily married and looking to stay that way until I die, having an attractive wife he keeps trying to stay attractive while also being smart and funny beats peaking as a Gamma at STAEE.

The ugly women at Michigan meme has to die. Please. Extremely offensive. Some individuals might want to check to make sure they are not living in a glass house when speaking of "ugly" people.... And congrats to NINA!!! Loved the maize dress! Represent!!!

+1 Insightful. Woud read again.

You can say this about women from every state. Just because you went to college doesn't mean your smart, what people are saying is the quality of girls is the same the quantity of girls is not. After living in NYC I was very disappointed with the ratio of quality women.

Huh? I may be missing something here. I've been to a couple of SEC schools, and while there are certainly a large number of attractive women there, the veritable avalanche of sexy coeds isn't something I've seen. You see pictures of the Grove in Ole Miss and forget that you are probably looking at a relatively small portion of 14,000 students. I think the argument is that people tpyically equate "hawt" with sundressed 20-year-olds with straight blond or brown hair; with that definition I will totally agree that Auburn has UM beat. I guess we can agree to disagree about "quantity" as that seems to be subjective.
As for "you can say that about women from every state", that's not really my point. My wife is from out east, and UM attracts an immense number of people from around the world. UM really doesn't represent the state overall; I think something like 40%-50% of attendees are from outside of the state. And by the logic you used above, I'd argue the quantity of smart women who take care of themselves in certain states is way higher than others, even if those states do have some.
And I'm sorry the women of NYC did not live up to your expectations. I've never had any complaints, but I guess I need to recalibrate my attractiveness scale.

Hey man its a perspective, its not a fim standard what I find attractive you may not and vice versa. I've been to most southern campuses and most nothern schools. I've been to every Big Ten stadium and every SEC one and most ACC. I didn't just go walk around and check out girls, I've been out and around town bars frat parties and seen the sheer numbers. I'm not even talking about the state of Michigan I am refering to colleges only.

I guess we'll just agree to disagree.

God the racism on twitter is just nothing short of astounding. I hate this world and I fear for the future of this country if that's who is leading our future. Seriously, even if you believe the hot garbage you're tweeting, DON'T PUT OUT FOR THE WORLD TO SEE YOU FUCKING TWITS!

I'm sure everyone of those commenters would be deeply offended if anyone pointed out the racism inherent in all of those sentiments.

Many of the early posts on this thread were juvenile, embarrassing, misogynistic and IMHO wrong. I appreciate that at times this site becomes a testosterone contest, but you are talking about our mothers, our sisters, our wives and our daughters. Those comments were what one would expect on RCMB--certainly not on a site that welcomes Michigan fans who also happen to be women.
And let me just add that I suspect the physical attractiveness of the men on any particular campus likely mirrors that of the women. You may not have been a good a catch as you think you were.
September 16th, 2013 at 9:06 PM ^
Let's be real: This site has absolutely not welcomed women for a while, unless they came bearing T&A. Also, it's kind of sad that you should even have to appeal to some paternalistic protective nature to try to get the lowest common denominator to realize that maybe they should treat people like, ya know, people. Somehow in my 23 years I've managed to be attracted to women without making a damn ass of myself every time HAWT PICS surface on a football blog.
