OT- East/West College Bowl 2 - Key & Peele
I realize this is OT, but hopefully this brings some laughter into everyone's Friday. Key & Peele (a sketch comedy group) made a college football skit last year called the East/West College Bowl. It was incredbly popular, and has 17+ Million views on YouTube. You can see that HERE.
They have struck again this season, creating another East/West video that includes some of the following players:
Bisquiteen Trisket ... the Univeristy of Michigan
(Heisman Trophy Winner) Jammie Jammie-Jammie ... The Ohio State University
Fudge...
We don't know what school Fudge plays for, but he's a 350lb running back, and he is very good.
Harvard Univeristy.... plays for: DeVry University
The link to the video is HERE... Enjoy, and Go Blue!

People actually watch Key & Peele?
I guess you really do learn something new every day.

The first skit was pretty funny, but do they make it over the shark tank on their motorcycle in this one?

Jammie Jammie-Jammie was overrated. The Ohio hype train got him his Heisman.

Shoulda gone to FUDGE.

I was looking for a "Hello" post for Bisquiteen Trisket.
I am somewhat disappointed.

that Mergatroid Skittle was so close to committing to The University of Hawaii that he could taste the rainbow but he dropped them off his list when they changed their name to just the Warriors.

Dan Smith is still my favorite.

And we all thought Derrick Green was fat.

Fudge has 110 on him easy.

So feel free to tell me if I'm oversensitive, but isn't the gag for this (and the last one) pretty much "black people have funny names"? I get that the point of a lot of comedy is to push boundaries, but this really seems like it's nothing but casual racism.
September 13th, 2013 at 4:22 PM ^
Black people wrote it so that should help quell some of your white discomfort so you won't feel racist for laughing at something funny.
September 13th, 2013 at 5:23 PM ^
"Black people wrote it" is the worst justification I've ever heard. I'm more interested in how black people feel about it, and the writers of this sketch don't represent all black people.

You're clearly trolling here. If you were seriously this concerned about the subject, you'd have collapsed into a downward spiral of anti-anxiety medication long ago. There is waaaay worse stuff out there to put your internet knight outfit on for.

Does that mean black people don't have the right to be offended by it?

Thanks for the assumption, but it was the nickname of my college rugby team. Nothing to do with race.

I'm not going to respond to any other replies to my initial comment, because other people have a right to feel how they will about this and I don't feel like trying to convince them. So I just want to express my feelings here; make of them what you will.
I'm surprised and kind of saddened that this kind of content pops up on MGoBlog and seems to be endorsed by the majority of the community. Yes, I get it, it's comedy, and probably isn't even that risqué by the standards of mainstream comedy. But it's essentially "black people are like this," repeated for several minutes. What's next - jokes stereotyping women? Jokes stereotyping gay people? There are plenty of places on the intenet where you can find borderline-offensive humor; I just didn't think of MGoBlog as one of them.
Don't get me wrong, I really like this community, and I think the far majority of you are intelligent, respectful posters. That's what makes me so surprised that this seems to have worked here.

Perhaps the rest of the community reserves their concern for issues that are actually issues. You have worked yourself up over a harmless skit. If you find this skit border-line offensive then I don't see how you can visit MGoBlog at all. Many of the memes on this site stereotype other groups for comedic value. Your last four sentences or so make it seem as though you have never visited the site before.
You may also want to reconsider what the role of comedy is or can be in society.

Why would they do this
Why would they put the exact same sketch out one year later

And while we're on the subject, I'm really PO'd Michigan put on UTL2. Did they really think we needed another night game? Can't people just leave good enough alone.
