BBrown: Quick Addition about David Edwards
I exchanged a quick text with David today and he did say that the coaches are definitely looking at him at tight end, but haven't ruled out the possibility of quarterback either. In looking back at my questions I asked him, specific position was never really brought up so I apologize for that. Either way, he's getting a lot of attention from the staff and his interest level is high. He's still a name to watch at either position.

For either you or Ace really.
Is it Brady Hoke's plan to fill out classes before National Signing Day every year? Or is that just a product of other things?
And do you think 2014 will be set in stone before NSD this year (barring any last minute decommitments of course).

I for one welcome the return of the buffalo stampede.

Frankly, I don't think anyone in the Michigan sphere wants him as a QB. He's too immobile, and there are too many other good 2015 prospects out there (Rosen, White, etc.).

If he's so immobile, can he really be that good at TE?

It's not really the same thing. Jason Witten would probably be an immobile QB. That doesn't mean he would be a poor tight end. Quarterbacks have to move laterally, change directions, etc. if they want to be good scramblers or run the ball. Most big quarterbacks are immobile, with a few exceptions (Daunte Culpepper, Ben Roethlisberger come to mind). Personally, I'm not in favor of an immobile college quarterback at this stage of the game's evolution. It was fine in the 1990's and early 2000's, but offensive innovation, quarterback runs, and the ability to avoid the pass rush are big parts of the game now.
Jay Riemersma would have been an immobile QB, but he turned out to be a solid TE and had a decent NFL career with the Steelers. AJ Williams isn't known for his mobility, but he is rounding into a decent blocking TE. There is room for those types of guys at the upper levels of football.

didnt riemersma play for buffalo, tuman for steelers

Riemersma played for both the Bills and Steelers.

If he's being recruited at TE then I assume he's Plan B. It's not going to be a big class and Wheatley is their first option. I can't see them taking 2 TE's.

Wheatley would be much preferred for TE. And (no insult to Edwards) the fact they're looking at him at TE instead of JUST QB tells me his potential at the latter position may be questionable. I'd say with limited scholarships available, signing another Riemersma is not in the cards.

It doesn't translate when the QB refuses to play TE.

It doesn't translate when the TE keeps trying to play QB.
