And yes, that is Michael Stockton, son of John Stockon ... suiting up for the Jazz.
Make a post about your personal opinion that Urban Meyer is to blame for the Aaron Hernandez thing. Make it come off as very childish, bitter, and especially biased. That'll be a great first post! You're welcome in advance.
Edit: Of course, don't use his actual name. Say something like "Urban LiaR" instead. And refer to them as O$U.
Or he could make a whiny, dickish post in a totally unrelated thread.
Whiny and dickish... you took my joke too seriously my friend.
In the first game between Boston and Orlando, there seemed to be a little more talent. Oladipo (IU) had a solid first half for Orlando, and then struggled a bit in the 2nd half. Oladipo was operating at PG for Orlando in the 2nd half. Kelly Olynyk (Gonzaga) looked very solid for Boston. Romero Osby (Oklahoma) looked pretty good for ORL as well.
I only caught the end of the first half and the entire 2nd half. I believe he had 14 at the half, and then they tried him at PG in the 2nd. He didn't do very well at point (rightfully so). He had a lot of turnovers and forced shots. It looked like he might have went a little too hard in the first half and had tired legs. I think they said he had 4 steals in the 1H though. If he can settle in to the PG role, he'll be a menace (especially defensively).
Derrick Favors and Gordon Hayward are playing on the USA Select Team. Enes Kanter is rehabbing shoulder surgery. The key players along with Burke should be G Alec Burks and F Jeremy Evans (Slam Dunk Champ). Rookie C Rudy Gobert's status was uncertain because of FIBA clearance, but it appers he is in.
The game finally started, it might be the camera angle or the arena, but that court does not look regulation. /Billy Hoyle'd
2 pts and 1 assist in the Jazz's first 6 pts for Burke...You can see where there's going to be an adjustment for Trey to figure out what shots he can/cannot get in the NBA, but he'll get it.
Yeah, it looks like he's adusting but still looking very sharp.
Edit: Still a little hesitant, basically always being guarded by the best defender he faced in college. That vintage drive/foul made me smile.
Edit2: Already looking more confident. Dribbling nowhere a bit too much but it was cool how he immediately backnowledged it. Still working on the timing/angle of his floater - still great at drawing contact in the paint.
Yeah, he's making some good plays. Personal opinion is he's so used to dominating the ball, that he has to get used to being more of a facilitator and just keeping the ball moving (and on defense he will have to get quicker)
He'll definitely have to get quicker on D, but I wouldn't sell his offensive ceiling short.
He's just testing the waters now. Once the dust settles and he finds out exactly what he can and can't do, he may end up more of a facilatator but he may also end up dominating again. I mean I have no idea which one it'll be, but I'm enjoying watching the process.
He used his speed and quickness to get those couple good looks at the basket before the half. They didn't fall this time but if he can consistently do that then they will.
Edit: Ooh, that ally-oop from deep was nice. I'm sure practicing them with GRIII last year helped.
Drawing fouls like a mother
Yeah, and NBA big men are going to eat up those floaters/teardrops w/o fouling, Trey's going to be able to penetrate but he's going to have to (re)-learn how to be a shot maker once he gets there.
Edit: For all my criticism, I think he eventually does figure all these things out and becomes an All Star PG, just putting out there what I see right now.
They are usually blitzing him on the pick and roll and hes having some trouble passing to the screener out of it, but hasnt forced it out kicked to his outlet on the wing. Hes been patient at the top of the key decision wise, but is having trouble finishing inside. I think hes overpenetrating, getting a little too deep. Twice the ball has hit the underside of the backboard. Also, look for him to pull up for the floater more often going forward. I think hes experimneting a bit to see what finishes he can get away with.
Im not impressed with his effort level on defense. Lazy fighting through screens and is ball watching once a shot goes up, not boxing out and has lost his man a few times.
It's a summer league game and he has a guaranteed contract. He isn't fighting for a roster spot. I'm guessing he isn't going to be killing himself on defense.
If he's still not giving effort on D come the NBA regular season, then he'll have issues.
That's his wingspan, not his height. Hasheem Thabeet, Eddy Curry, and Michael Olowokandi also had inhuman wingspans.
He's had a good last couple minutes. It'll take some time, but I think Trey will be fine when he knows the offense and has some pieces around him. He won't have either in the summer league though.
Exactly.
Summer league is like, the last 5 helter skelter minutes of a regular season blowout when both teams put in their deep subs...but for the entire 48 minutes. and probably without the actual head coach present. and probably with completely different personnel. and definitely with little preparation or advanced game planning.
Nothing like back to back incredible drive/assists in crunch time
"Best ever by one team in summer league today"
Best ever announcing today.
Remember Austin Daye is a 3 time Summer League All Star. This was a bad game for Burke, but dont put a ton of empahsis on it.
Here is the recap from NBA.com (LINK).
Trey Burke's own stats - he played 32:12 and was 1-12 on FGs, 0-4 on 3FGs and 6-8 for FTs. He also had seven rebounds (1 offensive, 6 defensive) and 5 assists, as well as 1 steal and 2 turnovers. It should be noted that he did have the most rebounds and assists of anyone on the Jazz in this game.
Could Burke have done better? Without a doubt. He had plenty of open oppurtunities and just didn't convert. However, he still controlled the offense for most of the game and made some incredible drives and passes near the end of the game. As he fixes parts of his game such as adjusting to contact around the hoop and defensive switches on the outside, he's going to be a much better and more complete player.
