Saturday Night Thread
Hawks and Bruins tied at one in the middle of the third period in NHL action. The cable box tells me that IU is playing Louisvile in the CWS. Also, I Love You, Man is on Comedy Central. Hilarious movie if anyone hasn't seen it.
Anyone drinking or eating anything good? I have some alcoholic cola's I got for $5.99 a twelve pack and am snacking on some creation I make of crescent rolls, cream cheese, chicken and crushed pineapple.
Flipping back between I Love You, Man and the Cup game... Just trying to occupy myself until football season...
I didn't mean that I don't like summer... I love summer, baseball, and everything that comes with it (except for the southern heat), but nothing beats fall and football season to me.
Chicago has looked a lot more active overall in this game. I'm still surprised they have only one goal.
I thought it was comical that NBC spent 5 minutes covering Krug's turnover in the first game, only to have almost the same thing happen for a rush in this game.
Spent the night watching the Griffins lose game 5 and drinking whiskey and cokes. Still have a 3-2 series lead but losing two in a row at home that could have clinched makes me nervous to go back to Syracuse...
Pretty much, things are getting kind of sketchy... butttttttt did outplay the Crunch tonight though, outshot them by like 30 just gave up good chances that Syracuse took advantage of when we didn't with similar chances
but I'm sure you'll appreciate the cups I made at the end of May.
and I quote "HAHAHAHAHA you just made my night". So there's that, which is nice.
Got home early so I'm watching the Bruins-Hawks game, listening to Yeezus (it was leaked early, and it's phenomenal), and enjoying some beer (Short's Huma Lupa Licious) from our kegerator. A good, relaxing night.
Praise Yeezus!
Seriously, about to start it. The girlfriend just told me she's heard that it's totally different than his previous stuff and is a bit on the odd side, so I'm pretty excited to listen to this right now. Completely agree with your comment in the last music thread, Kanye is a douche but he's definitely a great musician (same tone as the general talking about Mel Gibson in Imaginationland).
Listented to it a bit last night!
I hate being the negative nancy all the time (amongst my friends) but I'm not sold on it being Great yet. I think it's really good and there are some production qualities to a handful of songs that are awesome (great). The first four songs + Blood on the Leaves* + Send it Up + Bound = Damn near greatness for the most part. Some of the lyrics are a bit of a joke though and honestly shi**y. I read where Rick Rubin said Ye had a few songs "written" all in ~2 hours; some of that shows if true. I can see Hold My Liquor being a big jam for many people but I found it a bit lame/sophomoric (again, more the lyrics than anything). Dude really got into being dirrrty for a few of these songs.
*Blood on the Leaves I've listened to about 7 times already...I dig it
Newcastle Founders' Ale.
Rooting for Mahan, seems like a good guy and I will forever root for any and all of the Golf Boys
Completely agree! Would love to see Rickie make a run at it with a low round again today.
So are Cinemax and Starzz.
Shiner Bock and Calc 2. Things are getting wild.
Eliot Ness and some Cup action.
It seems like Jagr has been frustratingly close to making some big plays all playoffs and just hasn't gotten a single bounce yet. I think he is still goalless for the playoffs despite playing very well. I just have the feeling he is due pretty soon. Guy is too good not to come through with this many chances.
room yesterday, and we have just broken up from our usual late dinner which also usually includes singing, but now with the piano. very nice. ever-impressed with oldest daughter who can play songs she has only heard a couple of times, no sheet music, etc.
I think Brewery Ommegang is slowly becoming my favorite brewery, every single beer is fantastic, plus Cooperstown is a fantastic area.
Boston really pressing hard here. Should be a power play for Boston on the delay of game here too.
EDIT: Nevermind, free stopage for Chicago. Should've been a penalty.
I know that the players are tired, but there is still some great hockey being played tonight. The first two games have both been fun to watch and you can't ask for more than this as a neutral fan.
Slick shot for Paille there, good series thus far.
That Bruins' fan down at ice level is going apeshit on the glass in celebration. That was a solid 30 seconds of glass smacking.
beautiful pass, and Paille took advantage. That play was just amazing, nothing else to say.
looking at espn's box score, they always list giveaways and takeaways. they don't match up i.e. boston didn't have 9 giveaways and chicago 9 takeaways, and this was not a stat that they ever kept when i played (yes, that was after the glaciers receded but before the invention of electricity).
when I was playing nobody even kept track of hits, so I'm probably not your guy here. If I had a CenterIce bat signal I would put it up, but sadly I don't.
Also I wanted to tell you how sorry I was about the emails we exchanged a while back. I definitely thought I had replied to you with everything, but it doesn't look like it. I did do the stuff you had wanted, and Seth chimed in as well, but I guess the reply got lost in the shuffle. You'll have a reply by tomorrow night. Again, sorry for the non-response.
about that. never heard from seth, who i assume is a mod. can update article too, since the wolverines went on their end-of-season tear to gain respectability and i can ask one of the players about news re: going pro, what caused the team to finally get it in gear, etc.
the guy who does Dear Diary and Hokepoints on the front page (among other things, I've been drinking for a couple hours and can't think of them off the top of my head), and he copyedits all of the front page content. I had asked him about your potential diary since that's his job description and he did some copyediting and had a few notes.
"I caught you a delicious bass."
