Rittenberg's Latest Power Rankings
Power Rankings Week 3
Rittenberg has released his latest power rankings, with Michigan sitting at #2. I'd say most of his assesments seem pretty fair considering it's early in the season.
Thoughts?

I can't think of a team off of the top of my head who should be ahead of michigan right now in the BXI besides PSU

Um, OSU only lost by 3 to USC... Lots of questions there, but I don't think putting them ahead of us right now would be a huge stretch.

... makes some sense. I thought he ranked M #2 in the country, which would make a lot less sense.

2 or 3 ... I could see both of them. Either way, it is better than last year.

So UM is in the top 3 Big 10 power ratings and their cohorts in the top 3 both come to Ann Arbor.
Interesting.

I think its a fair assessment. Unfortunately its not because we are legitimate MNC contenders at this point but rather that the Big Ten has too many questions. We just have appeared to have fewer issues to this point. Curiously, I think we have far fewer questions on offense than TUOOS or Penn State. Penn State's offense has looked good against two poor opponents that in all rights as a top 10 team the should have crushed mercilessly. Both teams clearly have us on the other side of the ball at this point. If we can open 5-0 the doubt should start to fade, until then it admittedly does seem like a 'too good to be true' scenario. I for one feel its the real deal, but time will tell the tale. 52-49 victories are still victories...Go Blue

Why does that make any sense. Purdue just played a close game at Oregon after winning a blowout over Toledo (who later blew out Colorado). That's a lot better than a blow out win over an FCS team and getting blown out at home.

Yeah, I don't get it either. Must be going on potential, but Zook could never get all that potential out of his teams in Florida, and they utterly fell apart in the Mizzou game. Regus Benn getting hurt all by itself shouldn't destroy their entire offense.

#2 seems right to me. I can't wait for the Penn State game.

OSU's defense is going to be the best defense we play this year. If Tate can pull that one out, he will be able to do whatever the hell he wants to do in Ann Arbor for the rest of his life...even if he actually is immortal.

Does the #3 Big Ten team usually play on Jan. 1st?

The bowl games went
1. Rose
2. Citrus
3. Outback (played on New Years morning, before the Citrus)
With the possibility of multiple BCS entries, the fourth place team could also be playing on New Years.
