Kids say this all the time. Lots of times they choose the school that everyone expects.
January 25th, 2013 at 5:11 PM ^
Or they actually do shock the world (for ten seconds) and pick a school that's not even on the list. Suffering an acute case of pessimism today. Thanks, Henry Poggi.
January 25th, 2013 at 6:11 PM ^
I would go far as to say MOST of the time when a kid says they'll shock the world, they pick the school everyone expects him to pick.
January 26th, 2013 at 2:35 AM ^
If you really read between the lines you'd know that the shocker is....he's going to choose William and Mary, which is the school he has secretly been planning on attending for years!! Who wouldn't want to play for Coach Jimmye LayCOCK?
January 26th, 2013 at 11:16 AM ^
Me. I wouldn't want to play for Jimmye Laycock.
James Laycock, I'd be cool with that. But I can't respect a coach named Jimmye.
January 26th, 2013 at 1:03 PM ^
What Magnus said. I can't remember any instances where a kid said that and then actually shocked anyone. I don't know any OSU fans that think he's going anywhere but UM.

Nah it was clearly in order from shortest to longest of coaching tenures for each school's head coach

I've always remembered it as: "First is the worst, second is the best, third is the one in the polka dot dress."

OK, VERY likely I am reading too much into this (and I don't make a habit of doing this), but could this be him paying homage to Juwan Howard from the Fab Five days??
January 25th, 2013 at 5:03 PM ^
January 25th, 2013 at 5:06 PM ^
If he's actually alluding to that, then he's a true Michigan man
January 25th, 2013 at 5:06 PM ^
I was going to sarcastically say this.
January 25th, 2013 at 6:03 PM ^
but that Diamond guy last year did that too, and picked Auburn. It means nothing until it means something, knamean?

January 25th, 2013 at 10:33 PM ^
But doesn't Ali currently live in Michigan? Hence...
January 25th, 2013 at 4:59 PM ^
This is probably the first time a recruit has tried to drum up some interest in his announcement press conference.
January 25th, 2013 at 7:37 PM ^
I NEVER remember anything like this happening before. Recruits always want their choices to be low key affairs all at home with only their family present.
January 25th, 2013 at 5:04 PM ^
it will be a foolish move. Not saying this as a homer, saying this based on his final 3. From a totally objective standpoint, UM is the perfect situation for him given the O-line recruits of the last 2 recruiting cycles and the Man Ball Hoke and Borges want to run. He and Smith will run the 2 back ground and pound they ran at Auburn and now Nick Saban runs at Bama.
January 25th, 2013 at 5:15 PM ^
nothing is objective when it comes to recruiting...
If says 'michigan' tomorrow I will be thrilled.
If not, I will be a little pissed... for about five minutes. then you move on.
January 25th, 2013 at 5:05 PM ^
Most of the analysts are about 80 percent sure it's Michigan. With our renewed basketball success, I'm sure he's referencing the fab five.
January 25th, 2013 at 5:05 PM ^
January 25th, 2013 at 5:05 PM ^
Fab Five/Muhammed Ali refererence is all. I'm not into recruiting but I understand Green is a big get and need.
January 25th, 2013 at 6:02 PM ^
I was gonna say he was quoting Juwan Howard after the Temple game.
January 25th, 2013 at 5:06 PM ^
Oh Gawd I'm not even going to sleep tonight! It's like Christmas Eve guys!!!!!!!!!!!
What do you think his favorite color is?
Favorite band?
January 25th, 2013 at 5:10 PM ^
He's clearly a Jay-Z fan, based on his Twitter handle.
January 25th, 2013 at 5:08 PM ^
As a Michigan fan, I pray he joins the Wolverines tomorrow. But honestly why would anyone in his position not go play in the SEC? They are so dominant right now as much as I hate it. Please be the better man Green.
January 25th, 2013 at 5:12 PM ^
thinking Tennessee and Auburn would be a better choice than someone like say, Ohio State, because of the SEC > B1G thing. But...well...UT and Auburn went 8-16 last year including 1-15 in the SEC. Say anything you want about the SEC and it's dominance. Those two schools currently have nothing to do with it.

January 25th, 2013 at 5:13 PM ^
But that's really no fun Russale2012. Do you want to live in a world without fun speculation about high school seniors?
January 25th, 2013 at 5:11 PM ^
What percentage of "the world" do you think knows who this young man is? And I suppose if we take that number and divide it by two thirds, that percentage might be shocked a little. But in the grand scheme of things is it really as important as Manti Teo? Have some perspective people!

AFAIK, they haven't broken any news.

This should explain that
I used to work with @mgorecruiting but I dumped the account and the password was changed guys.. Trying to figure all of it out now.

this goes a long way toward explaining why I have never heard of either of them.
January 25th, 2013 at 7:06 PM ^
That's the same guy who was speaking with Rodney Davis, the fake Michigan commit. I'm starting to wonder if he's stirring up trouble for more Twitter attention and followers.

in Ann Arbor.

Is that you Gus Malzahn? It will be killer sledding weather and hot chicks love to sled. That's my pitch.
edit: Ok. That's enough. After my second Friday martini I've posted three times. Get a grip Marvin. Time to get some food in that belly.

I've got a fever right now. Last night, it caused me to have dreams that I thought were reality at the time. In those dreams, it was Saturday night, and DG had already committed to Michigan. True story. It's a sign.
