Where will Michigan basketball be in the new rankings Monday
Indiana, Louisville both got knocked off this week. It will be interesting who the new number one is this week. I feel Michigan will be number 3 this week gut feeling. Burke was featured on lastest BTN Journey episode thought it was good piece on him.
My top five
1 Duke
2 Kansas
3 Michigan
4 Syracuse
5 Louisville

Some of you are neglecting to mention that Syracuse went on the road and won against the #1 team in the nation without their 2nd leading scorer. MCW also had the worst game of the season and they still were able to pull out a win.
With that said, I think you can make a reasonable case for ranking Duke, Kansas, and Michigan ahead of Syracuse.

is decidedly cynical, but I see Syracuse jumping us, and Louisville not falling behind us, due to the close nature of that game. So, maybe we move up to four.

Curiously, SI's front page link to the currently-being played score of the IU-Northwestern game says "Indiana eyes return to No. 1 against N'western."
Methinks they missed a game...

If we win next week, I'll be curious to see our ranking next week.

Two years ago it wouldn't have been that shocking. We had the youngest team in the country and made the tournament. The thinking was that if Morris would stay in school, we'd be incredible. As it turned out, Burke has more than replaced him.
Now, three years ago, when we went 15-17 in Manny and DeShawn's final season...

But rememeber! Two years ago right now (Jan 20th), we had just been blown out by Indiana and Northwestern, and were hoping for a generous NIT spot. After that magical trip to the Breslin center, things have certainly changed.

I forgot about that. That game really was a turning point, certainly for that season and maybe even for the entire program. I remember the game before - against Minnesota (a rare Beilein loss to them) where we just got killed on the glass. At that point I was starting to have doubts about the direction we were going. Thankfully they were quickly put to rest.

Actually two years ago exactly we were 1-5 (or 1-6 can't remember) in the Big Ten and there was much grumbling here about whether we should keep Beilein around.

Magic 8 Ball says, "Reply hazy, try again" - 10 shakes in a row, not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing.

2 Cuse
3 Mich
4 Kansas

Beilein/Michigan isn't that good reason # 821: they have never been voted #1 in the polls during the regular season.
#821 replaces #820 which was Beilein/Michigan have never ever in a billion years beat a top 10 team on the road.

Didn't think it was thread worthy...but both of the ESPN bloggers pick michigan as their #1.

I think a lot of people here are underselling us a bit. I'm thinking we end up #2, we were one vote back from Kansas, I think our Minnesota win will end up being worth at very least a vote or two.

Pulls are very knee-jerk, so, I wouldn't be surprised to see Syracuse jump up to No. 2 (even No. 1 possibly)
- Duke
- Syracuse
- Kansas
- Michigan
- Louisville

I think we are splitting hairs at this point. #2, #3, #4, or #5 - what is the difference, on January 21st?

I would say 3 or 4.
