01/13/2014 - 8:52pm Awesome.

Your videos are truly inspirational.  Now I am stoked for the single greatest sporting event on Earth.

12/06/2013 - 4:24pm This.

Ghana.  It always ends with Ghana.

11/12/2013 - 7:26pm The announcer

"Stauskas from three.....Balls."  He said that.

11/01/2013 - 5:39pm Making Plays

One or two times in this game, our defensive backfield is going to get an opportunity.  Raymon Taylor, Desmond Morgan, Tom Gordon......someone.  Someone will see a ball.  A ball rolling on the ground, a duck floating in the air.

The X-Factor is our guys grabbing it and housing it.

10/11/2013 - 3:43pm It's Marketing.

We all loved Michigan football.  Innocently.   Then came the night games, the hype, College Gameday, flyovers, helmet stickers, Legens Patches, Seven Nation Army, the "Michigan fergodsakes" mystique, and even a Final Four.

Now remove it all.  No special UTL, no special jerseys.  A good-not-great start to the season. Just a regular game with the absence of marketing.  And you have a bland taste in your mouth, where that would have once been tasty.

Michigan

10/03/2013 - 4:12pm Best to Worst

Sugar Bowl - first time in New Orleans...New Year's Day...then Junior Hemingway...Hurricane...enough said about that trip

Notre Dame, 2010 - Shoelaces Flapping in the Wind

Indiana, 2010 - Denard Show.   A student-body tailgate that clearly emphasized the tailgate aspect of gameday over the actual game

Illinois, 2005 - those "Muck Fichigan" shirts really shaped my understanding of how great it is to be a Michigan Wolverine

Gator Bowl - fuck cowbells

Purdue, 2008 - Hook and Ladder.  The only thing that could be worse than the Gator Bowl.

You can teach a man to fish, and he can start at QB for Michigan St.

If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it...could it start at QB for Michigan St?

08/14/2013 - 9:18pm We are one of the ~10% of all

We are one of the ~10% of all athletic departments that run in the black.  Rejoice and be thankful for the means that we have to do this stuff.

08/02/2013 - 4:38pm Sorry to Ruin It

But Yaximizing Mour Lumble Fuck.

07/25/2013 - 7:26pm I seriously hope

that Michigan's definition of "BBQ" lives up to the expectations of Fournette and Campbell.  None of this hot dogs and burgers bullshit.

06/19/2013 - 5:22pm Okay

I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but this stuff is literally the curriculum for Professor Needs A Raise, Mark Rosentraub.

06/08/2013 - 1:27pm No.

The NFL would rather do just what it is doing.  Teams use LA as an ever-present threat in the hypothetical sort of way.  This way, current NFL cities are forced to pay for new stadiums publicly to appease their owners into not jettisoning for LA.

And LA remains open for the next threat. This is how the Texans franchise settled in Houston, how the Vikings got their new stadium deal in Minneapolis, and it's what faces the Chargers and the Jaguars next.

06/08/2013 - 10:21am Extrapolation

Does it account for the ~10 quarters Shane Morris will see in mop-up duty?

06/05/2013 - 10:12pm Hypothetical Long-term View

Changing recruits' perceptions of the entire conference would require some sort of drastic differentiation from other conferences.  Off the top of my head, the best thing the BIG has going for it (generally) vs SEC, Big 12, etc. is academics.

If every athletic department bought into this vision of investing full-heartedly into the academic lives of its athletes, we could fashion the perception of playing for the BIG school as a prestigious football opportunity.  In the same way that academically-geared recruits narrow their lists to Notre Dame, Vandy, Stanford, and Michigan now, we could create a culture which steers top recruits to automatically think, "the Big Ten is where I want to create my future and play top-notch football football."

If there are enough recruits out there who'd be drawn to this type of differentation, I know not.  Hell, it's basically the Ivy League.  I dunno.

06/01/2013 - 7:43pm ....

that's just the point. When I listen to my team on the radio, I expect hardcore homerism.  Ron Santo with the Cubs used to live and die with every at bat; whenever opposing teams made a play, Ron would groan before the play-by-play guy even made the call.

When Dickerson calls a home run, his voice raises, but half the time he seems like he's cheering for the wrong team. I don't want him to be excited when Paul Konerko goes deep; I want him to share my pain with me.

This reminds of the 5th grade basketball camp where I won Thunder & Lightning, Dribbling Drill, 3-Point Contest, and Most Layups in One Minute.  All the Dairy Queen and McDonalds gift certificates.

02/23/2013 - 8:54am My junior year of highs

My junior year of highs schoo, I took the Spring Break Campus Tour of 4-5 schools; the tour concluded in Ann Arbor.

Already having grown up a Wolverine fan, I remember riding in the car past Ocker Field and Yost on the way to my campus visit, thinking, "Let's be real here.  These other visits are simply formalities.  This is where I'm going, and it's not even close."

02/14/2013 - 10:27pm Man, does Dakich or ESPN know

Man, does Dakich or ESPN know anything about PR? How can a professional in such a high-profile role get away with such blatant twitter trash talk? Twitter is NO DIFFERENT than standing up and making a statement to a room full of your followers.

Talk about a failure in personal branding. Heck, I re-read each of my own tweets 2-3 times to make sure they're actually worth tweeting.

02/14/2013 - 7:32pm OT

But really, without Michigan, do MSU or OSU know who they are?

Was 20 years old.  Jumped the fence out back.  Ripped the jeans.  Helped a friend climb over.  Ran a couple blocks, slowed down, and joined Quickie Burger.

02/07/2013 - 6:44pm Wait until he enrolls.

Wait until he walks through the Diag; checks out Ann Arbor, attends a Michigan basketball  game, sings the Victors with his teammates after a win, and explores the thousands of other things that make the University of Michigan hte best place in the world.  I am sure he'll be singing a different tune in no time.

02/06/2013 - 4:42pm Wow

You can't be mad at that. Just wow.

02/05/2013 - 8:35pm Joe Flacco and Disney World

Joe Flacco and Disney World just do not match

02/05/2013 - 7:02pm On the other hand

If we ever expect soccer to become Americanized, hearing it exclusively in European accents doesn't help.

Georgetown's and Texas's Hyper Elites look kinda fresh.  For them.  Wouldn't want us to ever go back to the block M.

02/04/2013 - 4:58pm I think as an athlete, you

I think as an athlete, you dream about being the best.  You work at being the best.  Then you hear someone tell you that, indeed, you're one of the best.

And you're just kinda there. A  high school junior going to class and preparing for your upcoming basketball game, thinking, "Wow.  I woke up today just like any other day in my life. And now this is what being one of the best looks and feels like." I think in that situation it's pretty conceivable to feel humble.

02/02/2013 - 10:02pm This team always comes out

This team always comes out with a run at the beginning of the second half.  They already have the momentum here.  Get GRIII or Stauskas an open look that goes down, and we'll roll.

01/30/2013 - 11:03pm We're on our way back...just

We're on our way back...just give it time............

01/30/2013 - 11:02pm Thing is, when the Pistons

Thing is, when the Pistons acquired Chauncey, nobody was calling him a pure point guard. Who's to say Knight can't develop into one? Not saying Calderon wasn't a good move, but this team's backcourt just got a lot more interesting as they try to run down the Sixers and the Celts.

01/27/2013 - 7:25pm Game's personal for Max.

Game's personal for Max.  Doesn't the Bielfeldt family have some sort of building at U of I named after them?

01/27/2013 - 7:15pm Remind me again

Why does Illinois so vehemently think that Michigan is its rival? Lotta hate going on in that arena

01/24/2013 - 6:03pm Gardner

you Man.

01/24/2013 - 5:56pm Georgetown's and UNC's look

Georgetown's and UNC's look kinda dope though. I see it, Nike.  Somewhat.

01/23/2013 - 9:19pm In the late seventies/early

In the late seventies/early eighties, many elite programs actually did leave the NCAA so they could negotiate their own television contracts with the help of the CFA (College Football Association).  The NCAA only allowed one televised game each Saturday.
