2013 LB. Reuben Foster "Wants to visit Michigan"
per Tremendous via facebook
Following up on a Sam Webb report, 2013 commitment Henry Poggi tells me that five-star LB Reubon Foster "wants to visit Michigan". He says they've been talking a lot and that he thinks Foster is serious about taking a visit.
It's still a long-shot either way, but apparently it's worth at least speculating on in regards to a visit. Director of Player Personnel Chris Singletary was following him on twitter yesterday afternoon; this is only meaningful because Singletary is the guy who sets up and coordinates recruit visits.
I know this was touched on yesterday in another thread, but felt it was thread worthy with this update. This would be a HUGE GET for Michigan.

He's listed as a 5 star and the #6 player in the nation.

But, seems unquestionable that a visit puts us in a better position than no visit. I know the board is down on the numbers of top kids that we lose out on, but have a little perspective. Everyone wants four- and five-star kids. Hoke & Co. have definitely landed a very nice share of the four-star crowd since arriving in Ann Arbor; only way to start hitting that mark for five-stars is to have more irons in the fire. Welcome to the fire, young man. We hope you join the greatest program in the country.

The point is that they were all 5* recruits who made it to campus.

Nope. It's parked over by the one with Devin Gardner and Kyle Kalis on it. They're trying to make room for Patrick Kugler, but it's a tight fit with Kalis there.

All this Reuben talk made me hungry, so I went to the local sandwich shop and picked one up. May be that's why Hoke & Co are interested. They're hungry and they want a Reuben. A giant one at that. They just have to pick him up.

I doubt he'll end up here, but damn, I can't help but get excited, the kid is a monster. If we got Foster that would be five 4-star and one 5-star recruits at linebacker the past two years. Not to mention we still have Jake Ryan for two years, god willing. Michigan would be turning into linebacker-u if we nabbed Foster.

Five star recruit....one star attitude. If half of what I've heard about him is true....I'm completely fine with him going elsewhere.

Are you also the guy that follows TMZ and takes their word as if it were facts in The Wall Street Journal? The kid is in high school...give him a break

I was able to watch the video interview with Foster and Poggi. Foster doesn't seem like the most intelligent person but he seems like a good guy. I don't know what you've heard (probably something to do with pay for play) but he reminds me of Dorsey in the fact that he might want a fresh start somewhere far away. That is yet to be determined but I would welcome a talent like that and have faith that they staff would help mold him into not only a great player but a great man.

Fine, maybe that was a bit harsh. I'd be floored if he actually committed though - the gravitational pull of the south is massive, as is having a kid in the region.

Is all of that "good" weight?

Not putting too many eggs in that basket, but what a nice basket that would be.

seems like he is too big to have decent pad level

For crying out ducks, it was a joke- "2013 LB" kinda looks like 2013 pounds. Foster is a rock, I wasn't suggesting he was fat. Good grief, does anyone have any sort of sense of humor?

but he is definitely a long shot. It's strange to see a 5* prospect from Alabama that hasn't fallen into the clutches (yet) of either The Tide or Auburn. Pulling players like this out of the deep south is very hard to do. But, a campus visit makes it at least possible.

If I remember correctly, kid was committed to Bama, flipped to Auburn, and now with their issues he's obviously looking elsewhere now.

but a teenager in Foster's position and location coming all the way up north to attend Michigan strikes me about as likely as Brady leaving for an NFL job. Neither are worth spending any time thinking about for Michigan fans at the moment. Teenagers are generally fickle as hell, constantly falling in and out of love with new things, and Michigan is a new thing for Foster. If he actually takes a visit that will be an achievement by itself.
Saban would free up a scholarship for him in about 15 seconds.
