Big Ten Championship Game Open Thread
Nebraska-Wisconsin. 8:00PM EST on FOX. Gus Johnson and Charles Davis are calling the game.
Various sources have the line in favor of Nebraska by 3. If Nebraska wins, Michigan is all but assured the Capital One Citrus Bowl against A&M (likely) or Georgia, while the conversation is a bit more complicated if Wisconsin wins.

Oh, so now you can claim that Wisconsin just "blew it" and can't give credit to Nebraska for playing good football?
Pot, meet kettle.

Martinez might have just thrown a 30-yard lazer, but he still throws like a girl

At this rate, the final score will be 84-40.

re: Wisky's "barge" formation. Any rule junkies clarify what the rule is? I thought you could only have 7 on the LOS but they had 9.
December 1st, 2012 at 9:06 PM ^
You need at least 7 on the line of scrimmage.
December 1st, 2012 at 9:07 PM ^
You have to have a minimum of 7 on the LOS. You can have as many as you want (10, for all practical purposes), but only the outside two guys are eligible receivers.

It has to be because ESPN gets the rights to our games that people actually want to watch. Otherwise our marquee games would be on Fox more often.

Just be grateful this game wasn't relegated to NBC Sports.

Fox owns 51% of the BTN (the conference has the other 49%).

Watching this makes me have concerns
- We stopped Wisconsin Run. I wonder how Michigan rush defense would do against this Wisconsin team.
- This is the Wisconsin team I'm use to seeing. Where have these guys been. Maybe they save their best for the games that matter (Minnesota, Indiana, Purdue)? That is after they fired their OL coach.
- Nebraska must like to come from behind.
- Nebraska must not remember giving up 63 points and getting crushed. I don't know what's wrong with the black shirts but they haven't looked this bad since the OSU game.
- That stadium not being filled is a disgrace. OSU and/or Michigan would pack Lucas Oil Stadium Out.
- One year later OSU and UM will play back to back games.

I almost typed something about Ball's run but then I forgot I'm watching it in the past. My one month old boy shat his diaper and I had to pause it. The post about Ball's run would most likely not be very timely.

I appreciate instead of just not posting it you posted to tell us you aren't going to post it lol.

The post-season is inherently south/west favored. It's obvious that the vast majority of the bowl games are played in the south and west which favors the teams from those regions in both weather conditions, proximity, time zones, etc. But, it also appears that their conference championship games are also much closer to the majority of their schools than ours are, mostly because they are in closer proximity to each other. This will only get worse as the B1G expands. Imagine how a Rutgers would travel to a B1G championship game. How far is NJ from Indianpolis? The furthest team in the SEC from Atlanta would be Texas A&M or Missouri, which is new this year. But, LSU, SC, Georgia, FLA, Bama, Auburn, MSU, Ole Miss, & Arkansas are all incredibly close to each other. I don't know if there is any anwser to this, but the south/west will always have a better model and an advantage in the post-season.

The fallacy in your argument is Rutgers going to the BTCG.
Snark aside, though, it is interesting that most of the teams that are likely to make the championship game on a consistent basis are all within about 6 hours of Indy (Nebraska being the conspicuous exception).

Rutgers in a B1G Championship Game = brutal divisional realignment decisions and blind luck.
Good Division:
Mich
OSU
PSU
Wis
Neb
Staee
Iowa
Other Division:
Rutgers
Purdue
Minn
Illinois
Indiana
Maryland
NW
Even then...Rutgers?
December 1st, 2012 at 9:31 PM ^
Even PSU is over 500 miles from Indianopolis, Rutgers is over 650 miles, Maryland is 600 miles, Minnesota almost 600 miles. In comparison Georgia is 70 from Atlanta and Alabama is 200 miles from Atlanta.

Huh? To go from Baton Rouge to Columbia (SC) is an 11-hour drive. Fayetteville to Gainesville is a 15-hour drive. These states are a lot bigger than you think.
The difference with the SEC, I think, comes down to the fact that 1) Atlanta is a much bigger city than Indianapolis and has alumni from all of these schools and 2) the average Southerner is simply more into college football, and more likely to want to go to the game.

of Taylor Martinez's TD run...HOLY CRAP, that was Denard-esque...although 16 would've been there in half the time.
