I call bullshit on that. The replay showed his head and neck being hit hard by his own guy. People do not lay motionless when they get the wind knocked out of themselves.

What the hell happened to VaTech? Lossing to Cinci? I know David Wilson was a big loss, but come on. Did they lose anybody else?
September 29th, 2012 at 4:37 PM ^
They also lost Danny Coale I think. I just think they came into the season overhyped, they'll probably come out with the same record as last year though once they get through the ACC.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:47 PM ^
They lost nearly their entire OL. I think they had 3 O-linemen go in late rounds in the draft.

If he comes back in this game I will literally the last little bit of respect I have for Dantonio. A decision like that is uncontionable.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:42 PM ^
He's back in the game.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:43 PM ^
I cannot even fucking believe that. That's totally irresponsible.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:45 PM ^
Dantonio--or any coach--has to go with what the medical staff says.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:36 PM ^
Wow, John L Smith may be the worst football coach in college. He has taken a National Championship contender and turned them into a bad Indiana. They lost 58-10 to Texas A&M

I admit I spent close to an hour reading their live-blog. I have tears in my eyes and my abs hurt from laughing.

Without being sarcastic, I actually think this may be a true statement.
I have never felt this way before and I have absolutely no background in football, besides watching it my entire life, but I think I may be a better football coach than John L Smith.
September 29th, 2012 at 9:06 PM ^
I was not being sarcastic.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:42 PM ^
The Aggies looked really good on both sides of the ball, but the Hogs turned it over way too often to have a chance. What do you know, even a record setting QB like Tyler Wilson looks bad when he's got no time to pass.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:38 PM ^
Sparty receivers are poop.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:38 PM ^
I'll give this to the Buckeyes....their secondary is sticking like glue to the WR's.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:42 PM ^
Have MSU's WRs been able to get separation against anyone this season?
September 29th, 2012 at 4:39 PM ^
I have to say, Maxwell places his passes really well. The receivers just can't make plays.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:42 PM ^
September 29th, 2012 at 4:43 PM ^
If he could put a little more speed on his passes he would be a pretty great QB. It looks like he just has a tad too much touch on each pass.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:47 PM ^
I don't know. He has good touch on the shorter throws but his deeper passes are frequently late and/or underthrown.
EDIT: and then he airmailed that last one.

Purdue over Marshall now 42-14 in the second quarter.
Should we be worried about playing them next week? I know they haven't played anyone but they're doing what they're supposed to be doing against that competition.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:47 PM ^
I was, but the box score shows Marshall is outgaining Purdue. I haven't watched much of the game, but Marshall seems to have moving the ball well. But three INTs two of which are pick-6s probably hurts a lot. Didn't see any of them so I don't know who's fault they were, but that does not seem very reproducable.

September 29th, 2012 at 4:42 PM ^
Am I the only one worried that Short will put pressure on Denard and that his inability to throw the football will result in multiple pick sixes?
September 29th, 2012 at 4:46 PM ^
Yes....against ND Teo and the LB's getting pressure on horrible PA plays was the problem. I dont recall Nix getting a lot of penetration at all.
If we can solve the whole PA for no reason plays we should be ok.

a bunch of 18-year-olds waving the keys to Dad's old Cheap Jerokee.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:45 PM ^
MSU definitely has an elite D.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:50 PM ^
Yeah, very good. Although not quite as good as last year.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:48 PM ^
We need OSU and Staee to beat each other up.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:48 PM ^
But, these teams are beating each other up, MSU's center is out, Gholston may have gotten a concussion, and Jordan Hall looks like he just tore up his knee.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:49 PM ^
More sparty drops..
September 29th, 2012 at 4:50 PM ^
That wasn't a great throw by Maxwell. It was high and behind him.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:49 PM ^
Roby has been the best player on the field today.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:49 PM ^
September 29th, 2012 at 4:49 PM ^
Does this stupid punt formation even reduce blocks? Doesn't seem like it to me.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:51 PM ^
No punt. Nice block by Ohio there....surely a minor "Sparty No" moment there.
Sure, give it back, Ohio. Ruin a nice special teams fail with a QB fail.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:50 PM ^
Wow Buckeyes are sloppy.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:50 PM ^
Wow...not sure what the OSU OC is doing with this play calling. THey haven't got to the edge much all game on that speed option.
Yet, they continue to run it.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:50 PM ^
Man, State is playing these options amazingly.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:50 PM ^
Which team is going to be more incompetent? That's what this game is looking like.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:51 PM ^
Buckeye nooo?
September 29th, 2012 at 4:51 PM ^
You know all those designed QB runs from the shotgun that Denard does that look like they are reads but really aren't?
Miller needs some of those.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:52 PM ^
We'd better not take Purdue lightly next week. The have been strong all year.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:52 PM ^
September 29th, 2012 at 4:52 PM ^
I remember him arguing in the booth with Spielman last year wanting to pull Robinson for not protecting the ball.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:54 PM ^
"Can't turn the ball over. Can't have it."
"But he's the best player on the field."
"I will have none of those turnovers."
I miss their angry banter. I really thought they were going to get into a fist fight at some point.
