2 OLs made their blocks and Casey did the rest.

That was a TUNNEL SCREEN, which we never saw in 2009 or 2010.
September 9th, 2012 at 12:53 AM ^
I went back and did some searches. I found an old FFFF that mentions the tunnel screen vs. bubble screen mini-controversy. Borges likes tunnel screens more for some reason.
September 9th, 2012 at 4:59 AM ^
Not true regarding the tunnel screen.
RR ran them here. Off the top of my head I can remember Stonum scoring on one against UMass.
As for Borges, he might not like the bubble but he's starting to see it's usefulness I would say. After 2 bubbles against Alabama, Denard's first TD today came on a fake bubble QB draw.
No tunnel screen's yet. Or throwbacks.
Considering it "always" worked last year you know it's coming...
September 9th, 2012 at 12:46 AM ^
If Rodriguez can call a tunnel screen, surely Borges can call moar bubble screens!!

I didn't see him playing past the first quarter.
Illinois scores an honor TD, still down 3 scores.

we gotta ballgame boys
September 9th, 2012 at 1:06 AM ^
See what happens when a decent offense plays against the 3-3-5. Points aplenty.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:12 AM ^
Your obsession with hating an ex-coach runs deep.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:20 AM ^
However, I did hate the shitty defense.
September 9th, 2012 at 8:06 AM ^
about our D this year? You hate it yet because it has sucked big time.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:32 AM ^
However, rushing 3 as often as the formation calls for would be maddening to watch in the long term. Seems imprudent.
September 9th, 2012 at 4:57 PM ^
run properly there shouldn't be too many times where the defense is only rushing 3. At least one or two blitzers should be coming on almost every play.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:16 AM ^
Offensive bludgeoning! Whose defense will make plays first?
September 9th, 2012 at 1:17 AM ^
Zona defender hit the guy in the back, not the helmet.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:20 AM ^
Arizona has scored 37 points in three quarters. This is either one heck of an improvement from the UA offense over last week (when they scored 17 in regulation against Toledo) or a sign that OkSU's defense is really, really crappy. Maybe a bit of both.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:28 AM ^
Arizona offense improved as a result of not turning the ball over. They would have scored over 40 against Toledo.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:23 AM ^
860 yards and 68 points through 3. Sounds about right.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:34 AM ^
Arizona with a pick 6 to go up 45-31 (after 2 point conversion)
September 9th, 2012 at 1:35 AM ^
45-31 Zona

Only EVERY WEEK
September 9th, 2012 at 1:43 AM ^
"And we are tied at 45 at the end of regulation"
WHAT?
September 9th, 2012 at 1:36 AM ^
RichRod making noise right now. I hope he keeps it up and beats the Cowboys.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:38 AM ^
Remarkable how different a RichRod team with a competent defensive coordinator is.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:41 AM ^
equate to "competent"?
September 9th, 2012 at 1:43 AM ^
and you are unranked and lowly regarded? or just in general?
September 9th, 2012 at 1:50 AM ^
OkieState did lose two 1st round picks on their offense. If this were OkieState with Blackmon and Weedon I'd be more impressed.
Also, there have been two dropped TD's by OkieState. Simple execution has been a problem for OkieState.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:43 AM ^
coached a defense that were ranked in top 10 nationally for a few years in a row. yeah, he's a good DC.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:45 AM ^
How good against physical teams we don't know.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:51 AM ^
WVU was undefeated in BCS bowls (3 of them) with Casteel as the DC. Dude can coach.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:51 AM ^
shutting someone down???
And that was against DJ Shockley, NOT Stafford.
September 9th, 2012 at 2:01 AM ^
OK State is a "system" program. All their QBs put up big numbers, regardless of experience.
September 9th, 2012 at 2:07 AM ^
Even "system" quarterbacks struggle. Do you honestly believe that a "system" QB would rack up yards and points versus an OSU or a traditional UM defense? I can tell you no, because UM and OSU did shut down "system" QBs in Purdue and Northwestern. Oh, they occasionally had a big every now and then, but OSU and UM consistently stymied the system Qbs of the aforementioned teams.
System Qbs put up big numbers against poor or middling competition. Not so versus top 20 teams.
September 9th, 2012 at 2:14 AM ^
So we aren't a top 20 team? Because Air Force's system QB did a lot of damage today.
September 9th, 2012 at 6:36 AM ^
That is exactly what it means. We are not a top 20 or even 25 team. But fortunately, UMass is not a top 100 team.
September 9th, 2012 at 8:09 AM ^
may be the worst team in the FCS.
September 9th, 2012 at 2:20 AM ^
Was it competent enough last year when we gave up 34 to Ohio?
September 9th, 2012 at 1:41 AM ^
It's only one game. That said, growing up watching WVU football with Rich Rod and Casteel, the 'Zona kids have some WV swagger to them. I do think they could make waves in the PAC.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:49 AM ^
Wheels coming off OkSt. Big interception.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:51 AM ^
for setting a school record for penalty yards (157) AND committing four turnovers. That being said, this will be a huge win for Coach Rodriguez.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:53 AM ^
Zona will be 3-0 heading into the Pac-12.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:53 AM ^
OkSt is toast.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:54 AM ^
RRod and his staff is cleary showing they are one of the elite staffs in college football. Holding Oklahoma State to 31 points is pretty remarkable. Their offense is rolling too - 52 points so far.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:56 AM ^
This is basically every Oklahoma State game last year, only they're regressing to the mean in terms of turnovers.
They do have 500 yards of offense, just four turnovers.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:58 AM ^
on the road versus FBS competition do you not? This isn't the OkieState that beat Stanford. Far from it.
OkieState's defense traditionally is a mountain of suck, but I give RR credit for getting his charges to play so well on offense so early in his tenure.
