Killians Red. That way you can turn the tide into urine.

It's okay. Nothing great to be honest and you can definitely do better. The only thing that really seperates it from the other Lagers on the market is it has the word Wolverine on it.

It's just like another lager. Equal to (or maybe slightly better than) a Budweiser. It's also fairly cheap, though ($6-$7 for a six pack).
August 28th, 2012 at 2:44 PM ^
:0) It's much better than Budweiser. No rice or fillers and it's made in Ann Arbor. And their drinking den is cool too.

There you go, High Life is the answer.

High Life is never the answer.
August 28th, 2012 at 2:09 PM ^
What are you talking about? I have a 6 pack of High Life in the fridge right now. It's the answer if the question is "Do you hate yourself tonight?" or "Are you broke as hell?"

Newcastle doesn't hold a candle to nearly every other brown ale I can think of. And it's British. Are you too good for Amurrican burr?
p.s. High Life Lite is the answer if the question is, "What beer can I drink literally all day long and not get sloppy drunk?"

"What is never the answer?"

kegerator of High Life + Oriental Express = WIN, just like our boys will do in Arlington.
I think I had High Life + Oriental Express take out 2 days a week. Neither of them in isolation is great, but you put them together and it's the perfect food-drink combination.

Bells 3rd coast. Supposedly 2-Hearted is being released by the keg per Bell's website.

a year ago. so methinks this is not new news.
August 28th, 2012 at 3:26 PM ^
It does indeed come in Keg form, and it is indeed glorious.
August 28th, 2012 at 4:07 PM ^
Sorry. I meant "mini keg", like the 5L ones of Oberon you can get.
A full keg of Two-Hearted, while indeed glorious, would be quite the handful for one person with a kegerator to manage.

I don't remember the name of the brewer, but the beer is called soft parade, a mellow way to start the day, then i would transition to Cowcatchers Red Ale ( Mt.Pleasant Brewing Company) Similar to killians and bass, a touch smoother finish, and finally to celebrate a wolverine victory, i would suggest Coal stoker Blackberry ( Mt.pleasant brewing company) think guiness and chambord for flavor context. Best of all all 3 are available at Meijer.

If you're going Mt P, you have to go Trainwreck.

I've seen it listed as high as 9% and as low as 5%. So, uh, yeah. Take that for what you will.

Honestly if you're planning on putting down a keg in an afternoon and evening of football, go for something light and with a slightly lower than average alcohol content. Give yourself a chance of remaining upright and functional until the PAC12 games wrap up. Pilsner Urquell is my favorite for marathon drinking. Have some heavier beer and/or liquor on hand if desired, but keep the keg something easy to push your way through.
Plus that way the leftover booze will be easy to kill off with light evening drinking during the week. I tend to get PBR kegs these days, good price point, tastes pretty good, and you can just blow through it without turning yourself in a puking mess.
For anyone buying cans, Trader Joes also now has their own lager at 5% ABV and 58 cents per can. It's shockingly good and perfect for when you need a cooler full of cans for your party.

My buddy (yea I know you're going to read this Mitch) had that at his wedding a few weeks ago, SO AWESOME.

Hoegaarden wouldn't be a bad choice, if possible. It is 4.9% APV, as I recall, which isn't terribly high. If you don't mind unfiltered beers or beers with a citrus background similar to Blue Moon, this is a pretty good selection.
August 28th, 2012 at 2:08 PM ^
Too OT for opening week. However, I can't resist and will contribute anyways. Oberon. Get it while the gettings good, seeing as it'll only be available for maybe a few more weeks.
August 28th, 2012 at 2:13 PM ^
I don't know why. Pretty sure you can get it in a pony keg, though.
