Olympics day 10 (live/spoilers)
More track and field, quarterfinals for a lot of team sports, and more.
Also, is this why Ryan Lochte didn't do as well as expected? Seems he can't hold it in...

(Seriously, they probably all do it at some point or other, given how long they spend in the pool in training.)

Sadly this young woman did not make the Olympics, a true tragedy;
Kudos for the camera work.
Speaking of Olympians that are easy on the eyes, tune in on Aug. 11 for the women's mountain bike. This young lady (Pauline Ferrand-Prévot) is competing in it:

Canada strikes first against the U.S. in women's soccer. 1-0 in the 29th minute. Come on ladies.
All tied up at 1! One more and we get a WC final rematch with Japan.
This is one of the better soccer matches I've watched, male or female.
EDIT: 3-2 Canada now. This is pretty wild.
Canada up 3-2
Ridiculous ref calls x2 = US penalty shot
3-3
Joke.
(Feel my bitterness)
This has been an amazing match so far. A little bit controversial though how USA tied it on a PK. They were given an indirect free kick in the box after the Canadian Goalie held the ball for too long before kicking it away, and then that led directly a handball on the free kick. Waback puts the PK in the back of the net to tie it up.
Try a lot.
Just a joke that call.
I don't know how the homers on NBC are painting the 'heroic' performance by the Americans but the Canadians I'm around are apoplectic.
Honestly there could have been another penalty - a much less controversial one - about a mintue later for the US. But the ref didn't award it, correctly imo, no doubt because she had just had the two calls against the US. I think the worst call was the delaying call against the Canadian keeper. Fantastic job by both offenses today. Defenses were not that strong at all - I don't think this was all-time great offense, just very good offense and some kind of bad defense.
The delay call was terrible. A shame.
3-3! Wambach converts the penalty!
how did she miss that
I'd like to thank Abby Wambach for choking on that one.
Still doesn't even up the ridiculous PK.

anyone have a link or site for the soccer?
It is on NBC Sports or you can stream it live (like every other Olympic event) on nbcolympics.com
Despite the score, I think both goalies are playing pretty well. This game is so wide-open that it seems like there's a chance every minute.
Good save for Hope Solo there.
Getting a bit chippy out there
been chippy all game. surprised there havent been more yellows. tancredi, im looking at you.
It is rather curious that a number of close calls are going to the US side...
The Canadian conspiracy theorist in me is coming oot.
It's the same reason the Leafs can't seem to win a cup.
/Hockey cheap shot
The head ref is from Norway, so I don't see how/why she would be partial to either side. With that being said, the US has enjoyed the adventage in the calling so far.
I think there is not much argument any more that Christine Sinclair is plainly the best player in the world. Quite the talent there.
Still crabby about the no-calls Canada's way.
Crabby or not, but Marta from Brazil is the best female player in the world. It is not even that close either.
i stepped away from the tv for a moment and missed the intro to the OT, so sorry if the announcers covered this... is it golden goal or play through the whole 30 mins of OT?
whole 30
thanks!
goalllllllllllll morgan
HOLY FUCKING ALEX MORGAN!
The things I would do to Alex Morgan...
SO HOT AND YET SO GOOD!!!!!!!
OMFG!!!! Alex Morgan header in extra time of extra time!!! 4-3 USA!!!!
Added time of extra time.
beautiful goal by USA.
Great game, US Ladies. Better get your sh*t together for Japan, however. The defending tonight will result in a very poor showing against the Blue Samuraiesses? (Blue Lady Samurai? I dunno)
The Nadeshiko.
terribly officiated game, but thats soccer. Feel bad for canada.
Just want soccer to fail in the U.S. Have too many friends who are obnoxious with regard to soccer. Also Canada got robbed on the penalty kick.....very sad
with Canada seeming to run out of gas at the end. Wambach just missed her header, then the beauty by Morgan.
Fitting that it's the US and Japan again (as in rematch from last year's World Cup finale).
