CB Terrence Talbot leaving program
As per Sam Webb, Terrence Talbot leaving program:
I'm told that #Michigan Jr. CB Terrence Talbott has decided to leave the program.
EDIT:
Sam then adds the following:
That should answer the questions about why I mentioned two scholarships remaining yesterday as opposed to one
the program but this doesn't bother me that greatly
Happy trails Terrence. At least Hoke can give a scholarship to someone that wants to be a wolverine.
Is that necessary? What exactly do you know about why he left?
I didn't mean to be disrespectful to him at all. I wished him happy trails and looked at the bright side of things. This allows the coaching staff to give another scholarship to someone that wants to play for Michigan.
I read it wrong then, my apologies, but just know athletes read this blog too.
At any rate, looks like TTB is going to have to strike #38 on the list. He's projected to have been a backup CB.

So now Talbott's a junior, and some suggested he was pushing starter J.T. Floyd at the boundary corner position in the spring. By the April 14 open scrimmage, Floyd was the #1 guy, but it may be a situation to watch.
No worries, I guess I wasn't clear with my original post. I meant no ill will towards him and believe me I've been around long enough to know that athletes read this.
Didn't even notice that, looks like we joined right around the same time.
huh, look at that - a misunderstanding resolved in a civil manner on the internet. what has this place become.
You have been around for 5 more days than I, sensei. I can't remember how I found mgoblog but it was either through a google search or a link from autumn thunder. Autumn Thunder is no longer around but it was hillarious mostly football themed photoshopping by some student.
Thanks dude,
Nice to know some people still remember my half-assed contribution to the MBlogosphere. I'm touched.
Holy shit! Speak of the Devil. I had no idea you were lurking around these parts. You should create a diary of your best work and post it here.
We just went straight Kumbaya on MGoBlog. I can't recall how I stumbled across mgoblog, i just know i had to make sense of the new regime, and I followed the site a few months before actually joining. I think the first site i visited was umgoblue, then i might have thrown that into google and found mgoblog... i think the banner at the time was Mike Hart. Ahhh, the good old days.
Sounds like a good topic for a mid-summer thread: How long have you been a MGoBlog member, and how did you first hear about MGBlog?
I'm too lazy to post it though.
that's why he committed at some point in time. I'm sure this wasn't an easy decision for him, but now he's making a decision that is right for him.
Yeah, that's a really douchey thing to say.
How is wishing someone happy trails with their future douchey??
he didn't want to play for Michigan is what people are objecting to, I suspect.
That is not a true statement. Terrence was proud to be a Michigan Wolverine and many of his frends and family became fans because of him and his brother becoming wolverines. I can tell you this was a very hard decision for him. One of the hardest decisions he has ever had to make. He was and still remains loyal to the University and the football team. Due to personal (nothing criminal or because of the any of the things people are talking about) issues he chose to leave.
I ask you all to please be considerate of his feelings and pray for him. He is a young man who is venturing into a new phase in his life. Some may not understand or agree wth him but this is a lesson and a journey he has to take.
We have been reading many of the post and appreciate some of the comments and some well we just chalk it up to speculation and misinformation. He does want everyone to know that he will always bleed maize and blue and he is thankful for the opportunity he was given to become apart of such a prestigious program.
I know all of this because I am his mother. Please keep Terrence and Terry in your prayers.

You added that he didn't want to be a Wolverine. You have no idea whether that is true. He may in fact want to be a Wolverine very badly, can't get playing time, so decided to try and place somewhere else. Leave it at that.
In hind sight I wouldn't have added that. I just remember Mattison saying that he had a solid spring so I thought it odd that he would leave over (lack of) playing time.
impressive job backing out of a clearly derogatory statement.
"Honey, when I said you were fat and disgusted me I was just really saying that I love you more than ever."
And could be leaving for other reasons. Could be grades, family issues, all sorts of things that have nothing to do with the desire to be a Wolverine.
Or... perhaps he is tired of the grind and wants to move on with normal life. That happens too.
isn't oversigning and proves once again that he can count, the staff knows more about these things than we do, and we aren't the SEC just yet.
Of course, I guess it is possible that Hoke read the blog and realized he had taken one too many commits, so he ran over and asked Terrance to leave.
tripe.
Or some of the "omg how can we talk about the SEC when we do the same thing types."
is the stomach of a cow.
That has to be it. He saw me comment about possible oversigning and had to get rid of someone. Unfortunately Talbot drew the short straw.
have been accusing us of oversigning, so it must be going around Spartyville, too. I haven't had a good answer except "No, we are not." It is hard to say without knowing the backstories of situations like this.
Well I hate to be associated with Spartyville, but I was getting pretty suspicious when I heard we were signing 25 now. But now I see Talbott is out, plus who knows what will happen with Clark. I shouldn't have doubted the coaches, I will take my negging like a man.
Well, you could say we haven't signed anyone yet and then ask them if they understand the difference between taking a few more verbal commits than you have scholarship spots for (a regular practice and a fine one given that these athletes won't be on campus for a year and attrition happens) vs. having more athletes sign LOI's than you have spots for (not OK since you've legally bound them in a unidirectional fashion).
On the other hand, seems some of our own don't understand that distiction.
I for one do not think that reneging on our verbal offers to recutits is OK once they have pubically committed to us. We certainly don't like it when 18 year old kids do it, why would we be OK when highly paid professional coaching staffs do it.
I don't think Hoke intends to withdraw any offers that recruits have publically committed to.
I agree and that is not what I said... at all. What I said was it is common to take a few more verbal commits than you have spots for because there WILL be attrition. There always is. No one is reneging on anything.
You have to at least wonder, given the timing with respect to recruiting, if Hoke or Mattison sat down with Terrence and asked, "Son, were you hoping for playing time while you are here...?" Not that it would be wrong for them to do that -- that kind of conversation probably should happen sometimes. I of course have no clue what actually happened. But given the timing you have to wonder.
That type of conversation will typically happen at the end of a season and at the end of spring 'ball with either the offensive/defensive coordinator, your position coach, or both.
I sort of doubt (read: hope) that that conversation did not happen just now, unless there was some sort of situation that set it off (really don't want to speculate on that).
They can't sign anyone for this up-coming season, so there's no point in not keeping him around and having him play this year, if for no other reason for depth. Then if you needed to push him out for room you'd do it after the season for next year so you could sign more for next year's class. There's no gain at all in doing it now. So it's probably not for any of those reasons.
So no, you don't have to wonder.

Yeah, I'm sure during times such as this, the coaching staff asks themselves "What would Nick do?"
I wonder if some of the hype and PT he received from the coaching staff during Spring was to help generate interest for a transfer. Never seemed like he was destined for much PT but seemed like a good kid nonetheless. Best of luck to him.
And his brother?
IIRC didnt his bro get a medical scholarship? ie career ending injury
Don't like this. JT Floyd goes down and who's our boundry corner? Taylor? Talbott was our bigger corner depth.
If floyd goes down, I believe after an offseason of weight training we could survive with Countess moving to field, and Avery taking over boundary, with either Richardson/Hollowell/Taylor at the nickel.
Obviously that's not the ideal situation, however with Kovacks and Thomas Gordon holding down the safety spots, our seconday could be in worse positions... NEVER FORGET.
Thomas Gordon practiced at slot corner until he was moved to safety, so perhaps he will drop down to the slot in nickel situations and another safety (M-Rob, Furman, Wilson) will come on.
