Lots of those yesterday came from the garage sale of used jerseys

Does UM do those custom jersey things? If they do, well there you go.
August 15th, 2011 at 8:13 PM ^
There is a disclaimer that you cannot get a current or past players name and number combination.
They are smarter than you think.

You can always go on eastbay.com and do the custom jersey thing their or did they quit doing that? I've wanted to custom make a Cone one for a long time but just haven't gotten around to it.

I'm pretty sure there was a post on the board a while back where someone said he ordered a jersey with a past player's name and number from M-Den even though the website said they wouldn't do it and it showed up with no problem. My guess is they put the notice there to discourage the practice but are probably to busy to bother reviewing every custom jersey order.

Yeah I think it was a Zolton jersey. It would be alot easier to sneak a punter jersey than a Woodson or Howard one.

You could always give it a shot. Seems like the most they'd do is cancel the order and tell you they can't do it.

Yeah, but what if they send someone to your home to abduct you, lock you in a basement somewhere and beat you mercilessly? Make sure you consider all the risks...

Yeah that was me. I was able to get a #41 Mesko jersey from cbssports.com. It would be interesting to see if someone could sneak a higher profile name and number past them.

I think the rule only applies to players who are still on the team.
I got a Woodson #2 from MDen with no problem.

On the CBS site they have this disclaimer:
"Though we do offer customization on some of our college jerseys, NCAA regulations prevent us from customizing a jersey with the name of a current or former player."

I didnt get mine through cbssports I got it from MDen http://www.mden.com/um-customized-jerseys
Not sure how Woodson 2 got past them but it did.

I just went on the cbs site and it wouldnt let me get a Woodson or Brady jersey saying that I couldnt get a past or present player. But went I put in "Cone" and "12" it let me add it to my cart.

I bought a #5 Justice Hayes jersey.....just before he was on the roster, no problem

once the player has graduated or left school companies can use the name and number on a jersey. They can't do it while a player is in college because that would be making money of a players image/likeness and is against NCAA rules.

I've ordered from eastbay in the past. They have never challenged anything. They have some great cash back deals sometimes if you watch sites like fat wallet or slickdeals.
Try and order now, if you want by season start though. They took 2 weeks on my last jersey.

My Martell Webb jersey is in the works.

I got myself a #21 Howard throwback off ebay about two years ago for around $45

On one of the videos from yesterday, there's a fan wearing a #5 jersey with HAYES on it. I want to know how he pulled that off. The only thing I can think of is that it's an incredible coincidence - the fan must have bought a Forcier jersey and put his own last name (Hayes) on it and then incredibly, we brought in a freshman with that name and number.

Either that, or he got Mercury's number wrong

...they look really weird. I don't know if any of you have seen them, but they actually look nothing like a real Michigan jersey. The numbers and lettering are all out of proportion. Looked like they had tackle-twill numbers and lettering, as well. Unless I'm mistaken, the numbers and letters were all screen printed back in Brady's day.

Just messed around a bit on the CBSSports site. This is purely my speculation, but it seemed like if the player is still active in the NFL, they were not available (Woodson, Brady, Hart), but if they were out of the league, or were the space emperor of space, they were fine.
I now have a Biakabutuka jersey on order.

You may want to double-check the spelling of his name first.
August 15th, 2011 at 6:28 PM ^
What I would do is call around to different embroidery/customization places. Most places can do tackle twill numbers. The hard part is finding a place to do a nameplate. If you have a nameplate that a place can use as a reference that would help a lot. I might know someone that knows a place that can do the nameplates. I will let you know if I can get ahold of this person.
And obviously you can only do players that have graduated as that one group of people called the NCAA won't allow customization places to make nameplates of current college players.

I bought an authentic #2 jersey on ebay a couple of years ago. I would die if I could find somewhere to put "WOODSON" on the back.

What is your email address? I can email you information if I can get ahold of my friend.
